Good move by the government, and it is a good thing that this is happening sooner rather than later. Yes, taxes suck, yes I want to pay lower taxes, etc, but roads and healthcare don't pay for themselves.
B: They give you bags of screws for free at IKEA if you find any missing.
C: Can't print metal.
D: The price of Robot, Printer, Metal filament, time spent Designing, Printing, would greatly outweigh any argument against option B.
A: You would be surprized B: Not everybody lives close to an IKEA. I live hundreds of kilometers from an IKEA. C: It does not HAVE to be metal. Anything sturdy enough can replace metal. D: ? That's not the point.
I think what most people don't understand is that Bitcoins don't have to "be money" to fulfill the role that they are used for. As they become more and more mainstream, the value of a Bitcoin will become absolutely unimportant. The only thing which will be important is that the operation money --> Bitcoins --> money happen as fast as possible. That is the usefulness of Bitcoins. Transfer money securely from A to B as fast as possible and with as little hassle as possible. If enough transactions take place continually (which will be the case as it becomes more and more popular), the price fluctuations of Bitcoins will be negligible for normal users who will be holding Bitcoins for a very short time.
The value of a Bitcoin does not matter except to hoarders and speculators, and by repeatedly talking about them we are giving way too much attention to something which is not the point of the thing. If the volume of transactions happening continually is high enough, Bitcoins can probably exist with little/no hoarders/speculators and no effect on users, as most of the coins will be constantly transacting and not sitting around in someone's account, gaining/losing 50% value in a day.
Linux has done something better than Windows. You may believe it's due to relatively low numbers of users. Whatever - Windows is ultimately less secure than any Unix-like which I'm aware of.
Windows 8 has even less users than Linux so it should be more secure.
So a 800hp gas engine coupled with a 163hp electric motor is a hybrid. I'll put a battery and a small fan on my two-stroke lawnmower for when it's hot and I'll have a hybrid too.
The big players such as EA will never invest in a project that hasn't been already proven to be successful. This is why most if not all new breakthroughs come from indies (e.g. Minecraft).
Why not let the elected officials teach their electors' children what their electors want them to teach their children? They are representing their electors. Isn't the core of democracy giving the majority of people what they want, no matter what it is?
I don't see the problem. What they'll teach is wrong and isn't the truth. So what? Lots of shit you hear and people tell you are wrong and not the truth. Eventually these kids will grow up and do a bit of reading and learn things on their own. And eventually some of them will come to realize that what they learnt in school wasn't true. And they'll know then to take everything with a grain of salt. Isn't that a good lesson?
Isn't it them who bought Slashdot? And now we see them on the front page every week? What a coincidence... What good is a news source without so much as a veil of neutrality?
Trusting that the person you are buying from or selling to is not a cop or is actually going to provide what they claim seems insane. If you are a buying you have to give a place to send the drugs and a seller has to get those drugs to that place. Either option seems fraught with chances to get caught.
This violates every idea about never getting caught; everyone you don't know is a cop, all phones are tapped, etc.
Sellers have a reputation so if a buyer limits himself to sellers with 99% reputation who have already sold to thousands of other happy customers, like you would do on eBay, it would greatly mitigate the risks.

How about designing a robot whose purpose in life is to help a person 3d print missing screws and bolts from said IKEA tables? That would be useful.

fracking surprizing...
I have noticed that since Slashdot has been bought by Dice the Slashdot polls seem to be aimed at gathering information for commercial purposes.
