Seriously, when 2.4 of the Linux kernel is released, I wanna see it on slashdot. When XFree86 4.0 was release, I wanna see it.

When 2.4.1 of the Kernel or 4.0.1 of XFree is released, I wanna see it on Freshmeat not slashdot.

I think this is something that was long over due. There are tons of people who won't use it becuase of its license, I was one of them. A few of my projects that where sold to a few companys refussed to use MySQL with its old license. This should make the database market much more intersting, putting more presure on PostgreSQL and Oracle. Being thats its now open-source, maybe the important features its been missing will get added. (transactions and subselects :)

I don't think getting rid of taxes is the solution. I understand that money is needed to keep the goverment running. But, is there really that much needed ?

The goverment seems to want to nickel and dime us to death. It adds up, and very quickly. Think of this senerio, what happens when you buy a car. Think of all the things that are taxed. Oil, gas, insurance, tires, spark plugs, etc... Think of th whole life of the car. Then think about something else...

I think you get the idea.

I can understand this from the goverments point of view. (Somewhat) They are loosing tons of tax money due to the internet.

BUT, I do not like being tax 99% of my money. I make a salary which is taxed, I put in to the bank which is taxed, I pay bills which are taxed, I buy things which are taxed, I put it into a reteriment fund which is taxed, I die which is taxed, my kids get the money which is taxed.

What ISN'T taxed these days ??? Tax the internet ? Sure, but, greatly lower the other taxes.

Then you would say my email address/login id for earthlink is jengo@earthlink.net WRONG! If I gave you a list of 2,000 IPs, times and dates, and "user names". How long would it take to research every single one. Think how long it would take on 5 differant ISPs, let alone 1,000. Maybe its easy on AOL, but, not the rest of the world. Who on my side of the firewall did that download go to ? Me, my girlfriend, or the other 10 people that could have been connected. What about the company LAN ? I could careless about what any movie critic says. I like a certain type of movie, they like theres. For example: Event Horizan, everyone said it sucked. Guess what, I like it. Do I care what anyone else says, no.
