Ya, lets file a lawsuit in Florida, that'll work... now spamhaus just needs to make a request for production of their list of membmers and we got all the bastards.
RSAREF and PGP licenses were all under the direct shadow of a PATENT and U.S. export laws, there are laws restricting these items in the first place. Blame the law, not the license. (even so, if the law didnt exist, I'm sure RSA/PGP would still milk licensing for maximum profit, blame greed for that)
One important factor of choosing GPL/BSD Operating Systems is that I don't have to pay for a software 'license' to VIEW the code in the first place, and then I don't have to pay for a license to USE the software. So I can do code audits without the worry of the Software Police (BSA + Federal Marshalls) busting down the office door and taking all of the computers.
Your question is essentially (and probably unintentionally) FUD... the reason OpenBSD is good at what it does in the first place is becuase its *OPEN*BSD. On that premise, yes, an open source RedHat is better than a closed source OpenBSD. There's a reason its not called ClosedBSD.
On a side note, whats the point of being able to view the OpenBSD code if you could not build and run it yourself?
obviously anyone proposing an email tax doesnt spend much time on an oft used mailing list. im sorry but a forum system just isn't the same as a true list serv in which each individual has an archive of posts vs. a server only archive. no losing stuff b/c someone else screwed something up.
then why and the hell do they need to try and invent a new mouse instead of using the already long-established easy way of MULTI BUTTON MICE WITH SCROLL... i mean, cmon... talk about reinventing the wheel just so you can have another patent to restrict others innovations with:(
we're talking about imbeding something that can even more easily say "you can't use this software in a government that sponsors or is involved with the opression of human rights" (just as a base example of loss of true freedom of the software itself)
its digital RIGHTS MANAGEMENT.. this is the MPAA/RIAA's bread and butter and Linus just openly accepted it. How would drm digitally manage the rights under the GPL?
Pretending you have no politics and refusing to ever make a stand against something in your work is an utter fucking cop out and its what leads people tp think "busines isn't personal" Business is personal. Its how I pay for my food, rent, electricity. Its how I pay for my son's food, clothing, etc.
DRM is only about restricting use. ONLY. C'mon Linus, grow a pair, you're an American, its ok to openly disagree with things, even in your daily business or hobby routines.
Unfortunately, due to their actions we will obviously need to now spend effort in carefully review our own legal situation, and the effect that Moz firebird(tm) will have on our usage of Firebird and FirebirdSQL. Things that as with most opensource projects, will need to be done by donated work, and volunteer time, we were hoping to skimp on, and rely on general good will. So any advice appreciated
Advice: Spending effort to 'review our own legal situation' doesn't sound like a very open way of dealing with a situation. I have never heard of Firebird SQL until this article and certainly wouldn't confuse mozilla's firebird BROWSER with an SQL database. Your industry is the Database Software Industry, you should not claim ownership of the term for the entire 'Software Industry', its not being a good neighbor.
Be a good neighbor and don't let egos or lawyers ruin the credibility behind two decidedly different but useful software programs.
you've obviously never been to south carolina... its quite strange... there we were, driving through the hills, farm land all around... lo and behold, there is a Disney Factory Outlet sitting in the middle of a field. this is about 45 minutes south east of Greenville, somewhere on the way to/near Jonesboro. Very surreal, very government conspiracy like. Its probably a nuclear weapons plant in reality.
well what about p2-400, 512 pc 133, GeForce2 64mb and SB Live? That is what I'm on and I can run everything else under the sun solid, so far. Take your XP 1700+ and stab yourself in the eye with it, thats faster than most of us have. (Yes, Im too poor atm to upgrade my mobo/proc/ram)
1. Builds 4x AMD Multiproc boxes himself 2. Installs Linux, Jabber as 2 box cluster w/ a fail over 2 box cluster 3. Waves the b-s flag about stability, knowing all the while it doesn't matter what you have if you are a competent admin/ admin team, Murphy's Law isn't picky. 4. Saves a buncha cash vs those proliants 5. Has the added benefit of not having to deal with a Microsoft software lock in. 6. Uses the money to by a hell box to serve Doom3 on.
Anyone who has to buy their pr0n just doesn't get it, or is a terrorist.
id say winCE won out b/c it FELT better, not because it actually worked better. its all interface that won, they could've duplicated the interface w/palm so it was a lot more like windows, but they actually focused on productivity scores and effeciency instead of 'what looks familiar'

I would block .fr, but I don't watch Fox News. sorry.
thats true, but later comes the 1984 society, this just sets the wheels in motion.. :(

so people that use a mac cant grasp the usage of a three button mouse?
;)
that explains everything.
my brother to record almost an entire album, where he plays almost all of the instruments
good luck doing a live show

a little birdie proclaimed it so
ahem.

the mailmain might disagree with you... ;)
ahem
"uses open-source Firebird relational database technology to provide a blah blah blah..."
OR
"uses open-source Firebird web browser technology to provide a blah blah blah..."
Why would you not call it FirebirdSQL anyway!? Firebird alone isn't very original OR descriptive.
Firebird
dont worry about it now, the feds have seen your post and their at your door. *knock knock*
wake up neo. you pedophilic pervert.
what about the sexual harrasment panda?
as a man, i find that hilarious. on mondays.

what would YOU do for a billion dollars?
once again...

if we're nitpicking the quote... "I did not have sexual relatiosn with that woman"
