    It takes a while before the input box becomes responsive, have patience.

    I noticed a 195Kb movie file became a 2.2 Mb encrypted file and that's done in Java so some delay does not surprise me.

    I'm using OwnCloud, a nice little KDE project that through WebDav even works on Windows and I'm sure my data stays out of the US or any other government controlled server.

    The poster means to ask if there is a Linux/Gimp filter to import the often unique/weirdass raw format pictures, not how to physically do it.

    That's best done by putting the card in a card reader and approach them as an external drive..

    some tools just don't need to be re-invented. many mechanical tools have not gone thru change in centuries. why do we ASSUME that software HAS to 'evolve' and change? that's absurd.

    Such evolution also happened to the many mechanical tools you reference, it was around the same period software is now in, it's infancy.

    I don't know why you took Switzerland into your example, they are most certainly not a member of the EU!

    The biggest profiteers of the single market 's option to choose the place for your headquarters is probably Microsoft in/and Ireland.

    Amazon is not dodging taxes, Amazon UK defers them to Amazon Luxembourg, both are EU companies and by that token operating in the same market.

    You can be 100% sure these Luxembourg taxes are of a lower percentile than they would be in the UK.

    But they are EU taxes none the less.

    I saw the T-Mobile SIM of a colleague and it was a regular size one with the option to break out the center piece so it would become a micro SIM.

    That mini SIM still had some plastic around the contacts so yes it would be possible to cut it down further without a change in design or technology.

    The best know apparatuses that expect a micro SIM are from Apple and yes it does save space.

    Maybe, but since then a flood in Thailand caused a shortage of large HD's and the price of a fifty pounds box of used floppies has dramatically crashed.

    So my question is what limit has WinZip for splitting large files over many disks?

    El-Al and many other airlines flying into Israel are using a very time consuming security, every passenger is individually interviewed by at least two security officers and the resulting answers are then held against the light by seasoned specialists.

    The question and answer game is so smart once they have established you are allowed on board there is no further reason to resort to physical searches.

    You are over sensitive towards your 'personal space' and insensitive towards victims of real rape. How ever bad the situation surrounding airport security is a security pat down has absolutely nothing in common with rape.

    1 and 2 cent (euro) coins have never been minted or distributed in Finland and in The Netherlands they are hardly ever used, we round 7 cents off to 5 and 8 cents to 10.

    When you as most people pay by debit card the price is still charged to the cent.

    I agree, I use FF with a few add ons like Adblock Plus, Flashblock and Ghostery and I don't seem to suffer breakage.

    I assume most regular consumers have similar or even less add ons and get the same 'it just works' experience.

    You should get information before writing nonsense, TFA writes about 21 tonnes of cargo for this flight.
    Looking at the Arianespace website and Wikipedia it's indeed 21,000 kgs to LEO, the ISS is in LEO.

    An excellent solution for those with enough bandwidth.

    I see one little problem, these computers are Always On' and will fail sooner than a disk that's connected once a day or once a week.

    That's why I have two large HD's, one at home and one at the GF's place, we rotated them about once a moth.

    I'm a bit surprised that the NHTSA isn't suggesting that the in-dash navigation systems should blank the screen while the car is moving.

    Without screen you would lose a lot of valuable information, for example before big intersections it is 'life saving' to have atimely hint which lane to take so you don't have to do stupid lane changes further ahead.
