You can run a lot of things with low use. I'm more impressed the insides of your calculator are still in one piece and haven't been corroded to hell by the batteries.
For me a slightly larger bag is far less expensive than the purchase of a new shiny object.
That's a silly argument. It's not either or. It's a one or both case. You don't need to buy a new bag if you don't get a new laptop.
The "I don't want a larger bag" seems to me more like you're trying to find a justification, any justification, to buy a new shiny object.:) But that's just me.
Depends on the case. My bag also perfectly fits into the basket on my bicycle so getting a larger bag will cause problems for my commute. A larger bag is also heavier. Also I'm a bag snob and I went through a lot to find a comfortable bag with just the right compartments in it.
Also also: unrelated to me, but not unrelated to this post: My girlfriend's bag is a $500 thing made of beautiful soft leather. Her laptop is this tiny piece of shit with a mobile Celeron processor. It would be cheaper to replace the laptop *than* the bag, to say nothing of replacing both at once.
I can't agree. I've never had a problem with my audio that wasn't caused by absolutely garbage internet connection (at least not since the days of uPNP and NAT breaking communication) on the transmitting end. In the edge cases when I have experienced audio cases I also had no luck switching to messenger or whatsapp.
And someone else somewhere needs to maintain separate repos, needs to test against different software stacks, and your system state will not be the same from a clean install across different devices.
There are definitely reasons as a consumer to want this. There are no reasons for *the developer* to do it. So when you ask why you always need to remember to frame your answer in terms why a developer would put effort into edge cases for users.
Also TIL I had a program called Paint 3D on my computer. Interesting. Not knowing it and not clicking on it has been fantastic, far better than having to remove it or read through a selection list when configuring my system.
So many people are willing to do a job for a web site (in this case reddit) and not get paid for it. Suckers.
Some of us are volunteer distributors of insults. It's an enjoyable pastime. We get paid by the joy in our hearts of calling silly people silly people. And you are quite a silly people.
You can't get a tax write off for your time spent herding assholes on reddit as a moderator.
I can't get a tax write off for the time I spent arguing with people who are wrong on the internet either, yet here I am. Not because I expect to be paid for calling your post silly, but because I actively enjoy it.
Your post is silly.
Maybe do something more productive and go watch TV.
Those who think we can reduce total emissions are delusional.
And yet we have reduced total emissions several years. The population, economy and wealth grew then too.
Don't let your shitty energy policy get in the way of the rest of the world. Many countries would be fairing quite well if it weren't for dumbfuck decisions like like installing coal power, shuttering perfectly fine nuclear plants, approving newer and bigger coal mines.
You don't need to sit in your stupidly wasteful house running the AC in the middle of the day when no one is home. The top emitters per capita (USA, Australia) could learn a lot from the middle of the average emitters.
'The Economist' might not see evading capital controls as useful, but they are wrong.
The economist sees it just fine. As do the tax departments of various governments of the world when people use a "currency" that has an completely open and public ledger published for all to see.
I see your 16 and raise you: The cassette recorder came out 56 years ago and the music industry is still here and still making money despite our assurances that they would go bankrupt overnight.
Except that what ultimately happens is MS create a simplistic UI for users.... and then that's it. Skype can't even adjust camera exposure anymore. It has gone from having average video quality to producing an un-usable image.
You only say that due to a lack of understanding of people and the romance that is sci-fi.
Also bezelless and thin are two different things. Another mm or two may not make the difference, but that's not what is being discussed. Looking at my current laptop moving to a bezelless laptop gives me nearly an extra 2" of screen space for the same laptop size, a laptop which has reached the limits of my bag size. Also the thickness of the screen is completely wasted. It's not used for battery, it's not used for electronics. If it could be the size of a sheet of stiff paper, then I'm all for it.
Screen realestate per unit measurement of bag size. My current laptop only just fits in my bag and I want a larger display. I don't want to carry a larger bag. The only option left is to reduce the size of the bezel.
Think about it. When have you ever thought "damn I wish this screen was smaller" without the context of the size or weight of the laptop, or having to hold it in the palm of your hand.
No, we won't have passed that point until our electronics become either holograms without screens or just sheets of glass that are 100% screen like the utopian vision of the future that sci-fi writers drool over.
It will never be too thin or too light. It may be too fragile, but then people are just going to start complaining about material science rather than electronic miniaturization.
I may have misunderstood your post then; did you mean they'll say what happened in Eastern Europe was no true communism (but the real one will be all rainbows and ponies), or they'll say I misunderstood whatever I saw, and I should believe them and not my lying eyes?
A big mix of everything. Every discussion on Slashdot about politics deals in absolutes and ideals. Every example bundles them together. I'm not saying that what you experienced wasn't inherently horrible, just that it wasn't pure communism as pure communism wasn't implemented anywhere without being assisted with other political systems and managed by a certain type of political power (typically tyranny).
The living conditions in eastern Europe sucked, but that was the result of the mixed bag of political systems present and not the result of pointing at one specific subset of it in isolation and declaring it evil.
That said it is plainly obvious that every single political system in isolation could be described as evil and the only acceptable solution in the world is to combine elements of each. There is no pure communism, there is no pure capitalism, there is no pure socialism. There are true Scotsman.
Ah, but is there any proof any of them are true Scotsmen?
Passports. Just like the political systems would be backed by their respective theoretical definitions. When discussing any political system its best to remember all those physics examples: "Imagine a frictionless plane...."
Sadly no. These starfish don't feed on fish or each other. They feed on scleractinian which are the structures that support corals.
They are an invasive pest for this reason, few natural predators and few natural sources for population control to bring them back to a level where they don't completely destroy the environment.:-(
Unfortunately, it's controlled by Google, an organization that can no longer be trusted.
Trusted with what? Trust is not absolute. What specifically do you not trust Google with?
Pfft only kids go for 58005918. Adults are happy with a nice woman even if she only has 5318008
You can run a lot of things with low use. I'm more impressed the insides of your calculator are still in one piece and haven't been corroded to hell by the batteries.
There are still some out there, including the original "calculator" watch: https://www.breitling.com/us-e...
You size your bags to a millimeter threshold? What bag maker does that?
I'm not sure where you get the millimeter idea from. My current laptop would have a full 2" extra screen space if it were bezelless.
but talk about a first world problem
Well since I don't live in the 3rd world I don't have 3rd world problems.
What kind of snowflake are you?
Someone who has solved all my other problems. You should aspire to be in my position rather than ridicule me for it.
For me a slightly larger bag is far less expensive than the purchase of a new shiny object.

but the laptops in this article haven't achieved any kind of breakthrough at all, it's pointless.
*Looks at current laptop....
*Looks at laptop in the article....
I think you need to upgrade your braille display.

You misspelled "as always".
'The Economist' might not see evading capital controls as useful, but they are wrong.

Bitcoin is literally useless.
I happen to like looking at a seemingly random hex string of my speculative investment you insensitive clod.
Napster came out 16 years ago
I see your 16 and raise you: The cassette recorder came out 56 years ago and the music industry is still here and still making money despite our assurances that they would go bankrupt overnight.
None of this is related to Skype itself. Skype for Business will ultimately be replaced by MS Teams. An equally buggy pile.
Except that what ultimately happens is MS create a simplistic UI for users .... and then that's it. Skype can't even adjust camera exposure anymore. It has gone from having average video quality to producing an un-usable image.

No you clearly didn't get anything.
At best you could claim from my post that there are 705million answer to the question. But they could be 705 million "NO!"s
Great conspiracy, but what you were talking about was already achieved by the Javascript they had in place.
