Now look at the mods on comments in this article - 40 comments have been marked as Troll. And most of them are comments badmouthing Bennett. Slashdot, you have some 'splainin' to do.
I visited London over the summer, and went on a tour of Fuller's brewery. It was amazing. I wish that cask ale was more popular here in the States. I'm not aware of a place within 150 miles that I can get it. At least I still have a bottle of Fuller's Vintage Ale (bottle conditioned) that I brought home to save for a special occasion.
I imagine the intent is to make people who currently use the other social media sites comfortable with migrating to Ello. This way a user could start using it even though none of their friends are on it yet.
If Ello catches on and becomes popular, then users could stop doing the auto-push to other networks.
I haven't looked at their site, but hopefully they allow easily toggling that option. And hopefully they make signing up easy without tying it to your existing accounts.
If your ISP gives you a/64 for your house of 0:0:dead:beef::/64, then you could assign a/112 to a server in your house (say 0:0:dead:beef:0:0:1:0/128). So your server listens on multiple IP addresses instead of multiple ports on one IP address. A web server on that server would handle HTTP requests on 0:0:dead:beef:0:0:1:50, HTTPS would be 0:0:dead:beef:0:0:1:1bb, etc.
So what we really need is cellular neutrality. The towers should be public infrastructure, and the cellular providers should become just like ISPs would be if there was net neutrality.
I clicked on the first link to remind myself of the background for this story.
It links to the beta site.

Also, when I'm on a story on the beta site, why does the button to return to Classic Slashdot take me to the Classic homepage, instead of the Classic version of that story?
Other notable minor changes (yes, I noticed the oxymoron too):
-because it breaks the main font app when the app is running on XP (likely an MS bug).

They don't want MS to be associated with bugs?

Alright, maybe they're okay with XP taking some heat, as long as Win 7&8 are implied to be better.

They're trying to make it harder to find what you need to build your own binaries?
Also, when did/. start auto-creating links? Yes, I used preview and actually edited my post before submitting. Although now since I said that, someone will point out a typo somewhere in my post.
If the suggestions aren't static, then they are useless.
If I know to type "mittens" I need to press M, I, and then it will be the word suggested in the center, then I will learn to use it. If I type M, I, and the suggested word could be "milk" or "might", etc. then stopping to read the suggested words will take longer than just typing the word out myself.
Same goes for word predictions based on the previous word. It has to be static to be useful.
Hey guys, I'm going to see how good 4K video really is. To do that, I'm going to use a DSLR to record 1080p video, and a smartphone to record 4K video and then scale that down to 1080p.
Comparing the results is sure to be meaningful. Really, why is this a story?
Not sure why they truncated my submission
Slashdot obviously has strict requirements for submission lengths. </sarcasm>
Who gave Bennett unlimited mod points?

My daily web browser is Nightly.
[Emphasis mine]
I see what you did there!
See: Dice buying Slashdot.
Yep, I clicked on Nerval's Lobster's profile link after a few of his submissions and saw the "Works for Slashdot" badge.
Why doesn't this badge show up next to a submitter's username, instead of only when they post comments? This should really be changed.
What I do when I'm in a hurry is have my card ready before the server brings the bill.
When they bring it, don't let them set it down, just hand them your card.
Of course, this requires you to trust that the bill will be correct.

To be fair, he did say "yadda yadda yadda".
I should update my password to incorrecthorsebatterystaple?
Default on student loans? How do you do that?
I was under the impression that it was practically impossible to get rid of that debt.
This may have been added after the story originally came out, but I found this.
Is there a reason why ports still exist in IPv6?
If your ISP gives you a /64 for your house of 0:0:dead:beef::/64, then you could assign a /112 to a server in your house (say 0:0:dead:beef:0:0:1:0/128). Give this man a mod point—on the double!

I slowly moved to an inch away from the screen, and now it's worse!

I always wonder why Linens & Things didn't go for the alliteration of Sheets & Shit.

Chased by topless women off a cliff.
I'm on this page!
There is also a 5D version of the puzzle that I will probably never take the time to solve.
Svedka is the best I've found in terms of quality/price, it's about $18-$22 for 1.75L.
Although I still keep some top shelf bottles in my bar for when I want to drink it on the rocks without any mixers (just a slice of lime).
As another vodka lover, what are your favorites? I usually go for Crystal Head, Grey Goose or Belvedere, but I'm not exactly a connoisseur.
