    the "/. effect" is not malicious(sp?), nor dose it "Kill" sites... the odd /. link to a small webserver which happens to get crushed for an hour or two is not irresponsible . How many sites have had their fame MADE by a good slashdotting?

    /.'s responsibility is to provide it's readers with interesting content, and unfortunatly, not all the good stuff is on Yahoo or CNN.

    4 - WinRight emails tucows declaring that WinLeft are a bunch of wacked out OSS advocates, and should be ignored
    5 - WinLeft rubutts with "WinRight are all Linux Zealots, just trying to screw the system" Followed by a massive flame mail/DDOS attacks.
    6 - WinRight Starts massive mail-bomb campaign against tucows.
    7 - WinLeft Counters with a "Manifesto" delivered to Tucows re: "The Diminishing Quality, and overall suckieness of the Tucows Windows Section" Boycott Proposed, more flames.
    8 - Tucows decides it is all too much for their poor support staff.

    Voilla, no more windows section on Tucows, more room for Atari ROMs and Mac Software.

    With the exponential increase in demand for Bandwidth, do you see a need for access to be regulated on a federal (or global) Level?

    Will Goverments need to intervene to ensure we all have access to our "fair share" of pipe? With the merger of AOL/TW (and more to come, I'm sure) How will regulators manage our rights for access to information?

    Not every aplication is going to be "Mission Critical" we have been using MySQL in my shop for a TON of applications. (Search Engine, Account Data, and for a LARGE scale File Sharing DB) While MySQL is not oracle, it's cost/performance ratio is pretty darn good.

    ...and as long as you feel there is enough upside, I say stick it out... Having trouble with financing is par for the course, so I would not worry too much about that... (unless your pay cheque bounces)

    However, if you find yourself doubting managment decisions, or the direction of the company, well, you should probably cut your losses.
