There are Formula 1 cars that get 800 horsepower out of a 2.0 litre four cylinder engine. It barely lasts one race, and then has to be rebuilt.
A 2.0 litre four cylinder passenger car can last for decades.
You give up performance for durability.
What do you think this drug does to your body? Do I really care? No, I'm just making a point. I see it as evolution, the stupid kill themselves off.

"One of the most basic 'hacks' (to use the media's bastardization of the term)"

Well isn't that a bastardization of a bastardization???

"Someone who applies ingenuity to create a clever result, called a 'hack'. The essence of a 'hack' is that it is done quickly, and is usually inelegant." reference

"The term 'hacker', in its original meaning, refers to someone who applies ingenuity to create a clever result - usually in a technical sense - called a 'hack'" reference

"The original meaning of the word 'hack' was born at MIT, and originally meant an elegant, witty or inspired way of doing almost anything...Now the meaning has changed to become something of a portmanteau term associated with the breaking into or harming of any kind of computer or telecommunications system." reference

Yeah every body wants that maybe someone should build it! Big hint to whoever!

Full colour hi resolution screen, FMD/FMCard storage, PDA, MP3, GPS, Cellphone, Digital Camera, spec recognition, maybe some diagnostic tools like blood pressure and pulse for when you're at the gym, a multimeter, capacitance meter - hey that's a tricorder! (you know we all want one, we're just not saying it) and the case colour has to be silver.

Sh!t this really pisses me off. I live in Canada and I was mad when the taxed CD-R media because they thought that everyone was pirating music. What if you store your family photos, or e-mail or hundreds of other non-music data???

What about Sony MiniDisc players? They record 80MB and a lot of newsmedia people use it now instead of microcassette recorders. I'd like to see Mr.Reporter's reaction to that!

Found all this on their website www.c-3d.net (although they have www.constellation3d.com now too I see)
Yup re-writeable is in the works...or so they say:
"FMD/FMC presents a wide variety of potential media sizes and types (read only, write-able and re-writeable) for a broad range of applications."

    ..and regarding blue lasers:
"Research has shown that media containing up to a hundred layers are currently feasible, thereby increasing the potential capacity of a single card or disk to hundreds of Gigabytes. Use of blue lasers would increase the capacity potential to over 1 Terabyte."

They have that really cool ClearCard which has no moving parts, I'd rather have that that a five inch disk spining around, even if it were less than the 1 Terabyte capacity that the FM Disc is supposed to have. Soild state seems so much more advanced.

*sigh* Yeah two years is a long time when it was supposed to be out by now! But...
"The final delivery time will be based on the schedule of our business partners. As of now we expect to make our technology available to some markets by early 2003, with a full consumer roll out to follow"

OK it's late here, I have a cold and I want to sound profound but...
Oxygen combines with other elements and that's called oxidizing or really fast oxidizing is called burning. If you're in a room made of just metal while wearing a space suit that doesn't oxidize and you light a match the match will burn like crazy because of all the oxygen saturating it, and then it stops. You won't burn and the room won't explode because there's nothing else for the oxygen to combine with. Doesn't that sound right?
Was there enough wiring and other junk in the space capsule to sustain a fire that intense? I guess so from the result but it seems weird.

Uhhh yeah...video is something like 30 frames/second. So if you want 30 seconds you need 30*30 or 900 frames. Wouldn't that make the show look weird? You can tell that syndicated shows/re-runs are already chopped up a lot, you miss the ends of jokes that you know were there.
