Why did I ever listen to my elders. Also, more seriously, I know what you mean about the claims of hate speech etc, I live in Oakland, and it's pretty bad here, to the point where I can barely complain about anything without a quick retort of "What, is it because I'm black?". (No, it's because you're an idiot, and I am just following company policy/guidelines)

Depends on the games being played. I'll bring my tower if the game(s) require an extra bit of oomph, or if I don't feel like burning a hole in my friends' table. If we're playing retro night, or a combo of PC/Console games (let the laptop rest) I"ll be fine playing Diablo 2 or Civ (whichever version we're playing) on my laptop. Of course, I don't use a gaming laptop anymore since my Dell XPS 1715, so perhaps I'm missing out on all the new features of a gaming laptop.

You gotta go for the good ol' sturdy CRT monitors on your laptop! When I was in HS, a buddy of mine brought his CRT monitor because he had a screen issue on his laptop. 11. We still have to pay a good amount of cash to go to Universities here. Born in California, went to a UC. There is financial aid/student loans, but those are all ways to pay for tuition, it isn't free. It may have been in the past, I know my parents didn't pay much when they went to college, but unfortunately, they'll still have to pay for something. It's just up to them to see if they can get a part time job/apply successfully for the aid to pay for it.

My wife and I just have an issue dropping $X at once, even if we'll be spending $2X over time. It's stupid, but I'm glad there is a reasonable setup out there. I'm getting ready for a cable cutting though, by checking antenna placement around the house so we can maximize our TV channels. (I live in Oakland, CA, so it's pretty cool when I can get Bay Area Channels, as well as one or two from Sacramento) My biggest thing is finding someone with reasonable high speed internet and with a reasonable data cap (or none at all) Once I can get that, I may finally just go for it.

I would've spent it on the darn expensive tuition. Also, it should be known that the officers involved had very poor communication with their leadership, and that probably helped lead to the less than stellar handling of the situation. Of course, this is all a single opinion, and this will be disputed, but that was my take. As some have said, it is kind of funny that they spend so much money to hide it and it pops up again BECAUSE they spent to much. Serves them right in that sense. Done rambling. Thanks for your time.

I do not claim to know much about how computers work, but for some games, like Neverwinter Nights (Those that can connect via direct IP address), couldn't someone make a master server list simmilar to what happened with Freelancer? It was some download you ran that kind of faked a master server, and it allowed users to see all the servers who had given their IP addresses to whoever created said download. I was able to go from "I can't see any servers and can't play boo hoo" to "Hey, look, Star Wars RP server!" Once again, I don't claim to know how multiplayer works, or whatever, but hopefully someone with more knowledge than myself could make these little workarounds and keep these old legacy games around. I love NWN, and Freelancer, and many other Gamespy games. (I know, Freelancer was all Microsoft stuff, I'm pretty sure it wasn't gamespy). I hope we can keep playing these games even with everything that happens with Gamespy.
