Hey, they've got to make money somehow. The 'sponsored links' are far from annoying compared to banner ads or popups. They clearly label and set off with different colors the sponsored links and after using google a 100 times a day you learn to tune them out.
I'm with you on the rating system, if it ain't broke don't fix it.
How good is the MAME support? I think I'd buy one of these just to play those games on my TV with console controllers. Are most games supported and how well? I know a lot of NeoGeo games are slow on my fairly decent computer, how well do they hold up on the DC (ie. the newer Bust a Move's and Metal Slug's)?
But hey, for 50 bucks I think I might have to go get one of these.
It's precisley these people that the wantonly open trading of music helps most.
Damn right! As anyone who bothers to go out and support their local music scene knows, 99% of "garage bands" just want to play music, and the more people that hear their music the better. I was just talking to my friend this morning about how he had run into the guitar players for one of the hardcore bands around here over the weekend. The guitar player had been really nice and insisted that he take one of their demos (the only merchandise they have) for free so he would know the lyrics next time my friend saw them play.
The more I hear about these major labels and their bands whine about money, the more it makes me glad that I'm a part of the local independent music scene. There's a lot of absolutely incredible bands that I cannot believe how good they are and yet no one outside of the maybe 200 people who show up every weekend to go to shows knows about them. Come on people: if you're so sick of these major labels raping artists, and the artists bitching that their new CD is only selling a few million copies and that you owe them something, go out and support your scene! There are plenty of incredible bands in your area that would be more than happy for you to just come and hear them play.
Thank god AT&T has unblocked 80. I had a very stable mail/apache/ftp server that my friend ran and let me leech bandwidth off of that was unfortunately hosted by them. I've been so busy with school I haven't had a chance to find another host, so now I guess I won't have to. Hurray!
I can attest to this. I recently became straight edge [poisonfree.com] and decided to give up caffeine. The first few days I had headaches and that kind of thing. It's been 3 weeks and I feel so much better. I used to have so much trouble getting up and getting ready for school but now I can wake up and do what I need to, I don't stumble around for the first few hours until I get a Coke in me. I can concentrate better in the morning, I sleep better, I can wake up, and I've got more energy. It's deceptive how much of an impact caffeine can make on you because you don't really think about it. I encourage everyone else to give it up for a few weeks, you'll feel much better.
Yeah. This is the same thing as a Mame cabinet, except in a small pexiglass box and wireless pads instead of little buttons. It does have a slick UI though. I'm building a Mame cabinet and that's inspired me to build something sexy like that.
Yeah, but when you screw up the program and miss the decimal place you're going to be stealing a lot more CPU than you thought you were... and I don't think torching all the computers is going to work this time...;)
I second that. I spend more time coding than doing anything else on the net. I have yet to meet another 15 year old who knows what Unix is or can code in any language.
Yes, I noticed this too. My highschool band played a few of the pieces from Holst's "The Planets" (which I love) and about a year later we played the Star Wars music for a show in marching band. Everybody immediately recognized the SW music as very similiar to "The Planets".
Am I the only who finds it ironic that in Windows you have to click "Start" to shutdown? How's that for intuitive? I'll take a foot over that any day. -antipop
Thank you! If you don't want record companies putting copy protection on your CD let them know by hitting them wear it hurts - their pocket book. Go and support your local music scene, there are tons of artists right in your town who deserve your cash. Go and buy CDs from indie labels and artists, they're almost always better than the pop crap that record companies put out now. Just do anything but put more money into the pockets of Joe Record Executive.
Audiogalaxy is definitely awesome. I have yet to not find the songs I look for, even local stuff no one has heard of I can get. It does have server load problems but I've found it's better than Napster ever was. Hopefully it won't die like Napster. -antipop
Heck, I'd buy a few of these if someone did that. Anyone know if this distro they've got up now can act as a xterminal? BTW, how much is a DC keyboard, mouse, and ethernet? This could be perfect for the network I've been planning to do...
Thank you! This is the realization most people don't make: drugs are not bad, the drug trade is bad. I don't have any problems with smoking a little pot with my friends, but I do feel bad for supporting all the crime and violence that is associated with it. When I'm toking up with my friends it's almost impossible to believe that all this fuss could be over what amounts to some dried out leaves.

I wonder why I've never heard of this, it sounds great. Maybe now I can finally play Bust a Move 4 without it going to a crawl on my p3-700.

And if you're in the NC area be sure to check out NCMusic.com for show listings or NCPunk.net for punk/emo/indie rock show listings and resources. And you must get off your lazy ass and see Beloved, Aria, Hopesfall, One Six Conspiracy, One Amazin' Kid, and Near the Never.
Oh no! The Linux police are out tonight deciding who's leet or and who's not!
Yeah.. I have a hard time finding stations playing DK and X too =). Thank god for mix CDs.
I would think most professors would consider using another person's code cheating? I could be wrong...

I use it on my webserver and it's great. Speeds things up dramatically and takes very little time to setup.

That's the X10 ads. They're annoying as hell and they're everywhere.

They wouldn't have to buy new NICs, ifconfig conveniently allows you to change your MAC address.

I was thinking more along the lines of:
Yes Lord Jobs, we will infiltrate the Great Satan and destroy his evil spawn that has infected everyone's PC! *bow in worship*

But.. but... but... Daddy Bill says it's part of the operating system!

My only question is: how much? That thing looks frickin sweet!

And this of course being the question that determines whether they sell 3 units or 3 million.
