Er, sorry, didn't mean to say linear. Fahrenheit is linear too, and completely different. It's parallel; a fixed offset.

It's a linear scale, buddy. For that order of magnitude, the 273 degree offset is completely irrelephant.

  4. But the actor sees little reason to take personal responsibility for it. Hell, if the actor takes a moral high ground instead of playing by the rules, they will lose their job, and someone else will play by the rules in their place. Even the CEO must follow rules - maximise profit for shareholders or you're out. Morality is inversely proportional to profit. It's an unfortunate part of capitalism and why regulation in all areas is so important.

Sorry for not being clear, but it was by no means in support of suppression. It was directed at the way people are taking this at pure face value without really thinking. Twitter is promoting freedom of speech as best it can - by censoring, the service stays active; by allowing the rest of the world to see what is censored, gross neglect of human rights will not go unchallenged. The news make can make it back in the country through other channels, but twitter is critical as a distribution medium, and this is aa close as you're going to get within oppressive regimes.

Every scientist dreams of publishing in the journal "Wall Street", known for their strict and reputable peer review process. I don't have any supporting evidence, but I assume our rating systems are pretty similar to those in the US and UK, simply to make the process of importing a whole lot easier since we have pretty similar "moral standards" (based on the judgement of a few geriatric goons). It means developers don't have to consider Australia "special" and decide whether they'll make a special version just for us or consider us insignificant marketshare.
