plot and graphics are not critical to the success of video games; price and the inclusion of social aspects (e.g. multiplayer or chat) were found to be more important
McDonald's is actually *losing* money every year on their restaurant business. However, they are more than making it up from their real-estate business. Basically in order to get a restaurant franchise from McDonald's the franchisee has to sign the location lease with McDonald's - and THAT'S where the real gold is coming from.
So, to answer your original question: no, McDonald's is not a successful restaurant, not at all. They kept losing money on restaurants in the last 30 years. That would hardly count as a success, isn't it?
I'm not trolling here but I just can't understand what this web server brings new to the table, after having Apache, lighthttpd, ngnix, Xitami or Zeus.
The European Union's economic policies are designed to benefit business owners in Europe
Nope, not really. The whole body of the EU economic policies is aiming at increasing (or at least maintaining) the workforce occupancy, in securing the social market from any disruption, even if it is legitimate and market-driven.
This means for the sake of keeping almost everyone employed, the businesses, the entrepreneurs and sometimes even the law are screwed every chance they get.
I'm a Romanian residing in France, I know what I'm talking about.
the European Commission, which seems to get off on abusing American firms
As an European businessman I have to make a small correction: the European Commission seems to be against any firm, be it European, American or from Mars (I'm an European citizen, and my family's company literally paid millions of Euros in taxes that in the US don't even exist, while always being screwed by the EU "social market" system in more ways that it's worth mentioning here).
That's why my current start-up (Omlulu.com, a low-cost, no-DRM, no-BS video marketplace) is registered in the United States. Because EU is to business (and free competition) what Stalin was to democracy.
In all your scenarios the last seconds / minutes are filled with pain and horror. Even worse, some of your scenarios do not guarantee death. How would you like to spend the last weeks or months of your life on morphine (with diminishing results) *and* immobilized in bed, with 20 bones broken?

So, the guy's name is associated with development problems, massive cost / schedule overruns and discredited studies, yet we are supposed to care that this guys is finally out?
Use the wisdom of warren Buffet and invest the equivalent of whatever you guys wanted to buy for the time capsule. For guaranteed better results than anything else, invest in a low-fee S&P 500 mutual fund.
It was never Google's or HTC's plan to take the market by storm, they intended to bleed Android in slowly rather then try to shove it at everyone at once a la Apple.
So basically it's not a bug, it's a feature, right?
we already know of cases where China has broken into hotel rooms, stollen blackberry's, etc.
Any link that supports your claims?
I haven't gotten an infection on my Windows XP box in years.
XP itself is an infection all by itself.
If one starts arguing about where the "good" limits of censorship should be then it basically agrees with censorship as a whole.
But Firefox fights back by leaking memory every second till it's shut off. Take that, Eclipse + OO!

This sounds awfully similar to today's Hollywood.

NOW GET OFF MY LAWN!
Funny that my post got a "flamebait" while yours is "2: Insightful". Slashdot ever ends to amaze me.
As for your reply, I sure hope it's a joke. I am an entrepreneur, my family also had (till parents retired) a family business.

Next time when you guys will try to piss off Japan, you may get the heat back!
As if making babies in the basement is such an easy task, you insensitive clod!

Name an industry that can produce 1 million new, high-paying jobs over the next three years
Government!
RTFA
... and run by the UN. Or Saddam Hussein. Or insert our favorite strongman name here.
If it were to exist a greater integration between governments, it won't be a safe bet to count on Western-style democracy to rule.
I don't know about you, but I am quite happy with the lack of such "global integration".

VA Mistakenly Tells Vets They Have Fatal Illness
"Vet" means a veterinary doctor, not a veteran. Stupid title.
The banner also involves thermite ;-)
Can't someone just write a RAM extender driver for 32 bit Windows for XP and Vista to get over the 4G RAM limit
Some guy called Linus wrote one...
you can think of the EU as a response to two world wars
While I agree with eevrything you've said above, let me add that basically the EU is the Roman Empire revived.
Is that you, Darl McBride?
