One evil doesn't excuse another. But overlooking an evil because it is your kind of evil is the worst kind of evil.

Further, Obama has had six years to fix this "evil" and hasn't. And yet, nobody is blaming him for not doing anything about it ... because he is "your kind of evil" so you overlook it.

Before you bring in supported systems, you have to have a budget. Without a budget delineated, the rest of the decision making process is pure insanity.

My first response is, estimate what the "golden" cost will be, and quadruple it. They will cut it in half, and it will cost you twice what you think it will, and you'll end up with an excellent system that is designed well and built right.

If you need "enterprise" grade systems, make sure that you are identifying the vendors in the space and calculate budget accordingly. And remember, vendors lie.

The problem are the internet trolls who think that they are anonymous. Unlike other forms of cyber stalking, Ingress players quickly find out who you are.The real world aspect of the game quickly chases the Stalkers off.

There is a difference between extreme justice and sadism.

Part of the lure of many crimes is that of a risk/reward analysis that says, "no big deal, if I get caught I'll only do _________"

A state that enjoys punishing criminals is criminal. A state that reluctantly executes a harsh judgement isn't sadistic. In fact, I would dare say, that if too lenient, letting criminals run free, is itself equal to those that are too extreme in punishment.

When criminals perpetrate violent crime after violent crime, in a capture, punish, release cycle, the system itself is proven broken, proving there isn't enough deterrence in the system.

Tolerant means we strive to not offend anyone. Offense is intolerance and therefore must be removed. The problem is, once your remove all offenses, you're left with boring flat meaningless monotony; the drudgery of life. The reason is, when you add something more exciting, it will necessarily offend someone somewhere.

If I steal a funny joke, and retell it and it sucks, it is likely my fault.

Which reminds me of a joke I heard as a kid:

A young guy walks into a Comedian convention, and there is a guy on stage. He listens to the guy for a minute, "Three" and the crowd laughs hysterically. "Twenty Seven", and the crowd laughs even harder. He asks on of the other attendees what's so funny.

The other attendee says "We've heard all the jokes before, so instead of telling jokes, we have numbered them. #Three was really funny"

The young guy thinks "I can do that too!" and asks for a turn on stage. He gets up and says "Ten". nobody laughs. "Fifteen". Still nobody laughs and a few people get up and start to leave.

The young guy leaves the stage and asks "What did I do wrong", and the Attendee says "It was your delivery, it sucked"

The moral is, all jokes are recycled. It isn't necessarily the joke that is funny, but context and in the telling that makes it funny.
