That's because you have a twisted view of the counter argument.

Teaching Children that they should obtain from actions that have VERY long term consequences is not a function of Religion or mind control.

But it is clear that you don't care about the long term consequences of things like children out of wedlock, abortion, STDs, and mental anguish when said photos are passed around school and you are laughed at by all the other kids at school so you hang yourself in the bathroom.

You want to think that sex is pure, and holy, and innocent, and lovely etc, thats fine, but ignoring the consequences of sex in a proper caring relationship because it doesn't suit your world view is insanity.

Will you be there when your daughter is dying of throat cancer caused by HPV because she gave BJs to every boy she ever dated?

Will you be able to help raise your grandchildren, because your 14 year old daughter is too young to be responsible?

Will you be able to deal with the guilt of your daughter because she got an abortion and realized she just killed her baby?

And what will you tell her about your parenting skills and trying to blame everyone else for your lack of foresight?

You see, I can make a perfectly good argument without invoking god, religion or using mind control techniques? Those are very REAL and highly probable outcomes for teen sex.

And it isn't about fear, anymore than caring enough to keep your kids from sticking their hands on the hot stove is about "fear". Though a burn from a stove doesn't last nearly as long as babies, disease and death. But what do I know?

Which facts? Facts according to whom?

All media choose to include certain facts, and exclude other facts.

Here is a good example of media bias. Next time someone gets into trouble with the law, pay attention. The news headline will say "Prominent Republican So and so was caught ______ " while if it is a Democrat you might see "So and so under suspicion of _______". The bias is there, because facts are emphasized or de-emphasized according to the bias.

It is up to you to realize that such things happen all the time, regardless of if is on FOX or NBC. The fact is, I can see the bias because I have a brain.

I don't have a problem when people admit their bias (left or right). Just quit pretending you're unbiased when you're clearly not.

I agree. I'd go one step further though. I'd go to the big boss head honcho guy, and explain the options as far as you know as follows.

    1) You are a professional, and take professional pride in your work. This means that you will not install or support pirating.

    2) As professional, you'll recommend free and open source alternatives to replace all the pirated versions as quickly as you can.

    3) Any software that is necessary that has been pirated will be replaced with legitimate versions ASAP, with the understanding that it is a high priority for you.

    4) The cost of getting caught by the BSA holding pirated versions is much more costly than actually purchasing the software. And it only takes one disgruntled employee to make that call.

I'd present him with the scenario where someone offered to sell the business a bunch of whatevers that happened to "fall off the truck" what the boss would do. If he doesn't care, then you know exactly who you are dealing with and the kind of company you work for.

Lastly, I would DOCUMENT everything, and let the Bossman know you are documenting everything, including the conversations you have regarding your findings and the solutions you're offering. That is professional.

Education is a long hard process. And sometimes the best education is pain. But there are a few people out there that will never learn.

Granted, having a Hummer in LA is silly. About as silly as a Civic in the mountains in winter.

Okay the USA isn't mostly city, like people who never leave LA and NYC tend to think.

USA is mostly open country, and large portions are well outside "city limits". Even here in Nor Cal, we are surrounded by mountains and such.

SUVs are nothing but enclosed 4x4 trucks. They are big, heavy and get through all sorts of mud, snow and streams that I wouldn't dare take a subcompact even near.

The problem is that do-good city liberals think that their one size fits all rules should apply to everyone everywhere, even when it is clear that it doesn't work in most places (if at all).

So quit harping on SUVs, they aren't the problem. The problem is that not everyone fits in a Mini Cooper or even a midsize car. And if SUVs didn't exist, you'd be harping on people driving Crown Vics. And if it isn't one thing, it is another. Motorcycle drivers would complain about any car, and bicycle riders would be complaining about motorcycles. And pedestrians would complain about Bicycles.

Sometimes you have to amputate a toe to save the leg. If you try too hard to save the toe, you risk losing the leg and possibly the whole body.

The problem is that nobody wants to amputate a toe, but sometimes we do it anyway.

Screw the toe, it isn't worth saving. The people working at those jobs aren't doing anything PRODUCTIVE. Trying to save jobs that aren't productive is just plain stupid.

If they were productive they can duplicate it elsewhere and make a living.

This is the problem with liberals, they want to save everyone and everything. You can't, it is impossible, so stop trying. Sometimes things aren't worth saving.

The weak must perish, or it makes the whole sick. CUT THE TOE OFF.
