I remember reading in Thomas Friedman's "The World is Flat" that the US always in-sourced more jobs than we ever out-sourced. And that all of the negative media against out-sourced jobs was misguided and uninformed. Maybe this is the case after all?
I agree. I need small wireless mouse that would work with both my MacBook and my little AcerAspire netbook and the VX Nano fit the bill perfectly. I absolutely love this little mouse.
Public transportation in the US is a huge money loser - so I'm guessing this is going to be as well. How much is this going to cost? Are the additional taxes going to be worth it? Do we need another, massive government bureaucracy?
I also just picked up one of these D150 Acers and I love it. Ubuntu makes a distro with very good hardware support as well as Atom optimizations called Ubuntu Netbook Remix and it's great. http://www.canonical.com/projects/ubuntu/unr
I've been playing with the nightly build of Ubuntu Netbook Remix (a distro that's optimized for netbooks with the Intel Atom processors, and based on Ubuntu 9.04) and I have to say that it's great if you are a Linux user. All of the hardware is supported at the moment except for the built in mic (the mic jack works). http://www.canonical.com/projects/ubuntu/unr
My girlfriend and I watched it last night and sadly, the movie is not very good at all. Besides the unfinished effects, which make the film look like a Saturday morning kids production - or something the BBC would make (Dr. Who production quality) - the acting is dull, the plot is weak and the character development is very poor.
I'm sure the film will look much better in it's finished form - but I doubt cgi will make up for the rest of the movies problems.
California is cursed with the worse nanny-state politicians in the country. It's destroying the economy too - the state is nearly bankrupt, businesses are leaving, taxes are on the rise. It's a total disaster. If you want an example of what happens to an economy when Democrats have complete power, just look to California for an example.
The ONLY reason Barr is attempting this is to keep his name in the press. Dennis "UFO" Kucinich often uses this technique via his impeachment circus. Welcome to US politics.
Most (if not all) new paper comes from farmed trees - a renewable resource. We don't cut down virgin forests for paper. It's actually the recycling of paper that is a disaster for the environment. To this day, the paper recycling industry is the largest polluter of water in the US, due to all of the harsh chemicals needed in the process. Not to mention it's very expensive and requires government subsidies.

I concur with this response. I usually wait for the Ubuntu debs to come out and install those instead - this would have prevented your problem. Using the package manager can make administration easier but sometimes means you have to wait a little longer for new releases.
I had huge hopes for "Hotel Dusk: Room 251", a graphic novel in game form. It is actually a pretty good game if you enjoy a decent story. The interesting, interactive puzzles mixed in here and there help set off the story.
But I can't help but wonder how mind blowingly great it could have been had the creators hired a real, honest to God writer, like Stephen King, or Neil Gaiman, etc... Damn that would be cool. Anyhow, thats my "most wanted"...
I searched around and wasn't able to come up with the name of the group pushing for this Internet tax. Does anyone have more information on them? What are their politics? Who is funding them?

It's sort of clear now why BO backed down on this early.

What about the high cost? The additional taxes? The new massive government bureaucracy? Public transportation is a huge money loser.
I would instead prefer tax incentives be use to spur the private sector.

You mean worse than the old boss.
Actually, a "live upgrade" is the preferred method for Ubuntu upgrades - and it's perfectly safe to do either over the net or from a cd.
Another benefit to Ubuntu is that they have an LTS version - which is absolutely necessary if you plan on setting up a production machine.
In the end however, if you're a decent admin, Linux is Linux and the distro you pick doesn't make that much difference (in general of course).

What I'm say is he's not governing like a Republican. He can call himself whatever he likes.
Don't give them any ideas!!!

And for the record, Arnold is NO republican!
"I think he's trying to get votes. Isn't that what you do when you're running for office?"
Not when you are running as a third party. It's *never* about winning when you are running as a third party.

Yes, in fact most common oils found in land fills also biodegrade.
Thats not correct. Paper disposal is eco friendly because paper is biodegradable.
When you really look at it, paper recycling is a complete disaster, from start to finish.
Penn and Teller did an ep of BS about recycling - thats probably the best place to start.

Hasn't Michael Moore been saying that all along? Honestly, this guys sounds like another leftist moonbat to me.

You insensitive clods.
