Attacking other nations who have not first attacked us is wrong. But by focusing on Bush pushes this moral fact aside. Is the initiating of war justified as long as the instigator isn't Bush? That seems to be the message.

Ah, if only this was indeed a moral fact...

Furthermore, how liberal it was of Bush to attack Saddam, ending a torturous regime, and thus the murder and rape of how many more thousands Iraqi's! Bush shall go down in history as the man who defeated the single largest murderer of Arabs in history. You? You'll just go down.

    >Clearly? No, it may be clear to you, but it is not clear to anyone else. Islamic values do more good for our society than say, radical Christian values, to use a more common example.

The above, of course, is as correct as my original statement. You've argued my point exactly. Some belief systems produce more good than others. Yes, Islamic values do more good than radical Christian values. Hence, religion *does* matter when it comes to values.

You and I disagree on Judeo-Christian values as compared to Pagan or Islamist or whatever. Fare enough. As an agnostic myself, maybe its easier for me to look at religions and make value judgements.

    >There are christian priests who molest children, Islamic whatevers who encourage people to blow things up

This is a moot point because humans of every religion do evil things. However, I think you would agree that Jihad, and "blowing people up" is a more critical, ingrained part of radical Islam, than child abuse, which is perhaps more evil, is in Catholicism

"No, the values that they (are supposed to) promote make the country great. The fact that they are jews/christians makes no difference, as those same values could be applied to Moral Athiests, if such a term truly exists (the people exist, I don't know if it is an accepted group, though."

I couldn't disagree more. Clearly, Judeo-Christian values do more for the good
of our society than say, radical Islamic values, to use an extreme example.

Europe's continued decline is seen by many to not only be related to the
choking affects if Socialism, but to it's loss the what some call the
Protestant work ethic. There was a great NYTimes article by Niall Ferguson
about this, a few months ago.

Nasty notions like political correctness, which I view as a form of thought
control, and moral relativism, take away any need to actually think about and
compare the differences between things like religion.

Your right however, religion is good for some people and not for others. You're a master of the obvious. I would repeat however, that religion does far more
good today for people than it does harm, despite the flood of radical Islamic
    moonbats.
