The a-holes won't leave packages at my apartment even though they will for houses across the street. Even the USPS will leave a package. When asked to they say something about it getting stolen from apartments and them being responsable. Complete bullshit. I thought that is what people paid insurance for anyway?????????
I have one of their yellow notes saying that they won't leave packages at apartments if anyone suing them wants it. Just leave me a reply to this telling me were to send it.
I wish more musical artist would claim ownership of their music and tell the recording companies to shove their bullshit contracts up their ass. Folks, MP3 and the internet is the way to go. Let the recording industry die. The sooner the better.
All right all you Microsoft lovers. I ask you this, how in your right mind can you like an operating system that's roots are based on a file manager? How many of you have actually seen a copy of Windows 1.x?
Give it up. The guys letter has a valid point that.com is for commerical use. So save yourself the hassle and get another one. My I suggest fecher-family.org.
Guess you've never run Windows 95 on a low-end machine. AT LEAST LINUX DOESN'T CRASH UNDER THE LOAD. Netscape and StarOffice work fine for me on a P166/64MB memory and I'm even using GNOME. I don't know how many times Windows crashed when using MS-Office 97 and IE5. I'm glad I switched.
I was at Micro-Center the other day and went looking for the Linux software section. Gee, it is intermixed with such useful software as "All Nude Girls" and "Swimsuit Babes Spectacular". Linux is not getting the retail shelf space like Microsoft. Micro-Center just placed it willy-nilly along side the garbase software. We should complain until Linux gets its own section away from the nudey-cdrom garbage.
Was in Taco Hell yesterday and just about went insane with the subliminal Star Wars endless loop muzak playing. Then there is the guy on a newsgroup selling tickets to episode 1 for $40 and they aren't even for the opening show!
Enough Enough I refuse to see this picture until it is at at a place where beer is served.
They actually do refer to stability, but not in terms of Linux being stable. Only in terms of not putting functionality in the kernel which would add to stability while somewhat reducing speed.
I'd rather write SQL then the pages and pages of code required to do anything relational in XBase. I've seen more poor examples of databases based on XBase than I care too.
Are we doomed to repeat the mistakes of the Windows/DOS era? IMO the people doing a Clipper port aren't heros they are idiots. XBase died let it rest in peace.
I think you hit is on the nose. This is Mindcraft trying to save their butt's. Microsoft doesn't like negative publicity and someone from Microsoft told them to "try and make it look honest or your history" or something along that line.
Mindcraft is nothing but a PR company pure and simple.
Maybe not your TV. But you sure will be pissed when the local Ham causes your computer to crash. Don't blame the Ham though, blame Apple and there "pretty" imac's.
What is to prevent Mindcraft from using the advice they get in their write-up (we did this and this...), but not actually using it to tune the Linux server? Any study by this so called company should be suspect.
Someone posted to COLA that one of the orginal posts for help came from Microsoft (tide71.microsoft.com which resolves but does not return a ping). So we can be sure that what you say is absolute fact.
A professor said once that anytime you read a journal article where the title is a question the conclusion will always be no. Well the answer to this headline is no. Linux is not hamstrung by lack of standards. It is the reporters that are hamstrung by Linux.
Most reporters don't understand Linux. Their only base of knowledge is the Microsoft world where Microsoft feeds them the sound bites they need to write their articles. They don't have this with Linux. Everyone is openly discussing the problems and potential problems of Linux without a single source to put a positive spin on things.

Sounds like they belong in the clueless ISP category.

Use it at work. Gnome was such a hog when trying to use vmware. With XFCE people don't know I'm using Linux, they think i'm running CDE and HP/UX.
digikey (www.digikey.com) is your best bet.
Only $1, Bill Gates you cheap ass bastard.
By the way, Bill Gates is stupid.
This ought to make the stupid record companies happy.

Keep those MP3's flowing people!!!!!!!!

Long live Linux!!!!!!!!!!!!
but isn't html the default for OFFICE 2000?
Slashdot is for dummies. I can't wait for Rob and the buys to publish the first "Best of Slashdot" then I might actually read some of this shit.

So what is the 2 meter frequency they intend to use....and the callsign too.
I'm going to get my EME array and blast that girrrrrly thing out of orbit!!!!!!!!! (just kidding).

I think you might have hit on something here, but it is not cold fusion.
Where's Jody Foster when you need her?

Anyone care to check who really owns Mindcraft?

Yep, the republicans will be all over him with candidates that don't know jack about computers beyond microsoft. At least Al is trying.
