  1. want to hear some good stuff on Using Google Maps to Get Out of a Traffic Ticket · · Score: 3, Interesting

You don't really need Google maps for speeding tickets sometimes basic physics is all you need.

I won a case in League City, Texas. the officer game me a ticket saying i was going 85 in a 65 in the fog. You heard me the fog. That night the fog was so thick we got lost for an hour driving around because we couldn't see landmarks. Now not everybody knows that laser and active radar don't work too well in the fog or rain... If you can prove this point your case is made. Besides the fog I had a few other things in my favor.

I filed a 'writ of discovery' to find out what they had against me before I went to court. I found this info in a book about speed traps. I represented myself and I am not trained in law. I even gave them some lead time with the write so they had more than enough time to answer my writ.

Using the writ I was able to find out a few things. The first being that they really really did not want to produce the operation manual for their radar gun. I got a handwritten note from the DA that pretty much said if you want to see it you'll have to come in & read it. The second is that they had not had the radar gun tested as is required in some states to be proven accurate under the law. The third is that the officers training was out of date. The FCC required officers be trained in radar safety and the gun to be calibrated every 3 months. The officer and the gun were not in regulation. I still have a copy of the officers certification and the maintenance log of the radar gun. They were both out of date.

On top of this I had been stopped before a speed trap. There was road construction for miles right before I was stopped. I made the DA really mad when I brought up the fact that road signs are spaced an approximate distance appart from each other. I basically pulled out the fact if I had been going 85 by the time it took me to apply pressure to my breaks to slow down in the area
where the officer said he had clocked me speeding I would have been going so fast (I was in an 89' s-10 blazer v6) I would have been well into the speed zone.

When the DA found out I was there the court intentionally held the case after everybody left so that nobody would know what I was about to point out. I was amazed at how many people would have been seriously ticked if they knew this kind of information. Technically it would be a federal crime for an office to use an uncalibrated radar gun unlicensed. It just goes to show law enforcement makes the most money off of ignorance than anything else. Most people are too lazy to defend themselves. Do you know how many people pay for tickets when the officer doesn't even show up to court, just because they think they are getting off, or that something worse could happen. Whats worse than paying money out you don't have to give? Seriously. Some of these small towns have probably not calibrated their guns since they first bought them. Use this info to your advantage.

If people would stop clicking on, or downloading things without reading them they probably wouldn't have spyware. Most people that call our tech support can't or won't read even the most simplest instructions even if its shaped like a cute cartoon character.

You won't get spyware if you keep your updates on point and stay away from trash or programs people send you in your email. Don't install trash like Norton, which was good back in the day, now its just a $50 program that just warns you of viruses.

And for the guy who said that tech support treats people like trash. Maybe you should try telling some of those degreed homosapiens that happen to think they have a clue to RTFM and STFU. They wouldn't have problems with their computer if they used common sense. People see things show up on their screen and its like neanderthals with sticks and small animals. They gotta poke it until it goes away. Nevermind the fact the info they are being given is important. Be damn if the message says its going to delete their hard drive because they'll click it twice and then say well I didn't know it was going to do that. I say if any mofo calls me and says they have had the computer for 2 to 3 years and they don't know how to turn it on they should be forced to take a computer class before they call in and ask us why that little floating plug thingy is on their monitor.

I am sick and f'n tired of people using ignorance as an excuse. They taught you how to use context clues to solve problems in kindergarten right? So whats the f'n difference between computers and anything else.

If TV's, Cars, Microwaves and just about everything else electronic has a switch wtf do you think a dsl modem is going to have on it. A piece of bread? Maybe some mustard? I don't think so dammit.

I hear people every day say well it was working fine, what made it stop working. Maybe some of you retards keep forgetting things change. Stuff breaks. Don't call a multinational comglomerate and then get mad because somebody there tells you to get an f'n clue. If your computer breaks fix it, stop trying to play a victum its 2005. That shit sure isn't going to fix itself.

Nobody with enough money to afford a computer or a college degree should be let off with any excuse when it comes to common sense. I know of thirteen states that need to send their people back to kindergarten so they can learn problem solving skills.

Only a fool would be for some telling you what you can and cannot do with something you own. Once a product is purchased it is 'yours'. How would you like it if I sold you some food but placed limits on its digestion or preparation? Would you be for me selling your grandfather a pacemaker and then deciding that it shouldn't be used by people over a certain age and remotely turning it off? How about me selling you a bottle of water and then suing you after its used to put out a small fire you created. If I was in court telling you it is not to be used to put out fires, that you should use another brand for that... You would call me crazy. GOD didn't create this planet so you could later copyright its fruits. Corporate Lawyers will be suing him next for defective gene sequencing. If you don't like the way something might be used then don't create anything or don't sell it to people its just that simple. As humans we change anything we come in contact with, Deal with it. Modding a (insert game system here) is not going to kill anybody. It is your entertainment system and you should be able to enjoy it however you see fit.

The way I see it is I spent part of the limited time I have on this earth earning the money to buy your POS system or games, learning how to program, disassemble, repair, or have to go back to return said system. Can you give me my time or energy back? I didn't think so. People always say time is money. What makes my time worth any less in this scenario?

Keep playing games with copyrights people and you will eventually be trapped in the web you weave. Are you ready to kill for your patent on mashing a button on a controller, buying something from a store or downloading/copying a CD? Oh! Sorry! A corporate ideal is always worth more than one persons life.

Reading stupid crap stories like this makes me tired.

can represent themselves in a useful light.

    3. There are rumors going around that FBI undercovers could be training underaged script kiddies to cause havoc, since they are easier to corrupt. (unfounded rumor/speculation dept)

    4. The govt will use any means necessary to spread FUD about the internet so they can gain more control over it policing. The black boxes that were installed the day after 9/11 are a testament to that. Its taken them how long to catch up to just a fraction of what most people do online? Think about it.

    5. If somebody wants to a group to deface 6000 web sites, they aren't going to put a target on their own heads by advertising it. The isp might not disclose who it is but they don't need their disclosure to get the info because of the Homeland Security Act. so why bother advertising that.

Cold-War tactics still apply people. Look how easy it is to spread FUD these days. Internet Security has only come into focus since the dot-com boom & decline. What bits did they leave in the open? Unless you disassemble their bio's there is no way to tell wether their code was in binary before it was compiled. Its really not in their best interest to just say 'See look, this is how I did it', even though they accepted the terms of the GPL in good faith. Maybe tomorrow we will find out how well the GPL will hold up.

I do believe that any company that accepts the GPL should not be allowed to turn and run the instant they drop their side of the bargain.

Maybe there should have been a GPL gurantee that starts the moment they sell a product based on linux sources. At least for commercial companies, so they can't say they didn't understand the GPL.

Nintendo's selection of original games have gone down drastically. If a game is seriously crappy then releasing it in another market is not going to save it. Reguardless of what you do to try and stop import releases.

The market as of this moment cannot sustain another video game war without consequences. If they keep releasing games without content they are going to die. Who needs to buy one game across 3 different systems? Seriously. I sure won't.

Resident Evil can only be done so many times before the series just bloats and dies. Look at what is happening with Tomb Raider. It took them this long to release a Mario Kart game?

Whats the deal with that? Why do we constantly have to be assaulted by truly horrible games and seriously overpriced hardware? Something has to break sooner later.
