He does have that right unless he is considered an enemy combatant, or for several other reasons. Ignore the quotable headlines and soundbites, the devil's in the smallprint.
Ignore everything you just read on wikipedia, what you quoted isn't just wrong, it's 180 degrees wrong. A gently-ramped up signal that sits at the maximum value forever and a day and then gently ramps down has the *maximum area possible* under it, and yet is one of the safest waveforms to play to a driver.
Boycott Dell. Boycott slashdot. 23:23 here - I'm outahere, no other stories look interesting.
No, he tells you a fictional story, not necessarily of his own composition, when you ask him too.
Why is that a positive trait when the requester and recipient is a child at bedtime, but not a positive trait when the requester and recipient is an adult?
If you're too stupid to have noticed the functional changes, then you're quite simply too stupid for pretty much anything. In particular as people have repeatedly whined about those functional changes.
Enjoy your dumbed-down slashdot beta, you sound like a perfect match for it.
I've seen some wonderful audio-processing (functional/mathematical) code which was entirely software in implementation, but entirely graphical in design. You could literally build your own Yamaha DX7 (pretty much all pads, almost every one had been reverse engineered/mimicked to within indistinguishability) from just drag-and-drop boxes and a single frequency input (dependent on the keypress, obviously).
I wish I'd written it myself, I'd been thinking about such a design for about a decade. Some Finn (IIRC, don't remember the name) beat me to it (no surprise really, my inertia is high). Respect to him.
If you can find a way of viewing them that does not involve NBC, then *you are saving NBC money* as they don't need to get as many bits to as many terminal devices. You're also not violating NBC's IP rights, as they are simply middlemen. However, most importantly, you are demonstrating that NBC is *not fucking necessary*. Data distributes itself remarkably easily, and doesn't need *blockages* like NBC to restrict its flow.
Every "distributor" should go bust - you are redundant, and have been for over a decade.
Fuck Gaurav Kuchhal the fuckup, Head of Product at Slashdot. http://www.diceholdingsinc.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=211152&p=irol-newsArticle&ID=1781836&highlight=
That press release still mentions and quotes Alice Hill the fuckup. However it positions here clearly in "DICE" rather than Slashdot-anything.
I worked for a company that's been mentioned on/. about 100 times in the last 5 years, it was so dysfunctional.
I would contend that in the context of slashdot beta, the method of making it right is to scrap it. Pretending you didn't make a huge fuckup simply breeds (even more) distrust.
Yet many I know are having a bit of a pro-anonymity backlash, and are preferring to pay for everything with cash now. As someone who buys almost all his food fresh from the local open-air market (yes, even when it's -15C, that's what hats and coats are for), anything apart from cash simply isn't even an option.
I don't know, why not ask them. However, the fact that Perens has done this before implies that he does see a need for such a community. And OkianWarrior has a good backing of us ranters too.
Anyway, we're not whiny, we're loud and obnoxious, there's a difference. We were whiny between 6 months and 3 days ago, while beta was just this thing they were dicking about with. Whiny was useless.
If it's going to die, the quicker they kill it, the less painful it is, as long as there's a Perens or an OkianWarrior, or whoever, to provide a substitute.
Why? Only if we're coming back to sling shit again until they say "we were wrong, we didn't have a clue what we were doing". But life's too short for that - we need a new home, one that's not under DICE's idiotic control.

It must be stopped!
/etc/hosts
And it's 23:something here, so for me the boycott starts very soon.
Here's to increased productivity for (at least) a week.
Just in case...

But you don't understand. Terrorists use wget for drug dealing with paedophiles who use slashdot beta. Wget must be banned!
> for our next post, whenever that is
Not next week though, for obvious reasons. Just because the poo-flinging has died down doesn't mean there's no boycott.
> whining about style changes.

Google finds that easily, but for the lazy:

Thanks for posting that.
See you on Technocrat, I hope...
Jeeeesus! I just got a 0.5s view of Beta. It burns the eyes its so ugly. Back button! Back button! Phew!
You're of course right, but IMNSHO everyone in the chain is culpable of being a blockage.
Not all.

And fuck slashdot beta

They're inherently graphicalisable, as long as all of the building blocks fit inside nice small rectangles.
Having said that - ``|'' and ``>'' are graphical. So probably all shell programming is in part visual.
Having said that, that the fuck am I on?!?!?!? I write perl, and perl looks like ASCII art, it certainly doesn't look like text.
Mod down story, story bollocks.
Fuck beta.
> your just a noisy prick
A noisy prick with better grammar (or spelling depending on what mistake you think has been made) than you.
I'd rather listen to angry noisy people with conviction than people who just put up with whatever wave of shit washes over them next.
(Appologies for not invoking Skitt's Law in the above.)
You couldn't be more wrong!!!!!!
This is Readers' Wives.
My opinion may be ugly, it may even offend you, but it's mine, and I'm gonna lay it out in front of you whether you like it or not!
I have plenty more bile, don't worry.

In Greek, it's more like vay-ta (probably /veita/ in ASCII-IPA).
I have no idea where the voiced bilabial plosive (stop) came from.
Good question, you'll have to raise that with the management. It would be petty, but funny.
I kinda get the impression that this was the week for fun pettiness, and next week for silence.
