    Not all.

I've seen some wonderful audio-processing (functional/mathematical) code which was entirely software in implementation, but entirely graphical in design. You could literally build your own Yamaha DX7 (pretty much all pads, almost every one had been reverse engineered/mimicked to within indistinguishability) from just drag-and-drop boxes and a single frequency input (dependent on the keypress, obviously).

I wish I'd written it myself, I'd been thinking about such a design for about a decade. Some Finn (IIRC, don't remember the name) beat me to it (no surprise really, my inertia is high). Respect to him.

    And fuck slashdot beta

  11. Re:Why? on US Cord Cutters Getting Snubbed From NBC's Olympic Coverage Online · · Score: 2

If you can find a way of viewing them that does not involve NBC, then *you are saving NBC money* as they don't need to get as many bits to as many terminal devices. You're also not violating NBC's IP rights, as they are simply middlemen. However, most importantly, you are demonstrating that NBC is *not fucking necessary*. Data distributes itself remarkably easily, and doesn't need *blockages* like NBC to restrict its flow.

Every "distributor" should go bust - you are redundant, and have been for over a decade.
