Hardened PHP

Tons of complaints about how php programmers should program better, how php sucks, this and that..
Yet just the other day people where bitching about Fedora not having SELinux on by default.
PHP - Hardened PHP Fedora - "Hardened Fedora"
Its really the same thing. Instead of fixing root flaws we through more security over them hoping it will stop then next hacker..
Linus must really suck at kernel programming if we have to do things like this..
No he doesn't Linus rocks, I cheer for every single developer that has ever submitted a patch to the kernel.
Fact of the matter is this..
WE ARE HUMAN.. TO BE HUMAN IS TO ERR.
Yes the programmers, be it php exploits or the next kernel buffer overflow make mistakes.. Does that mean they are bad programmers.. HELL NO..
Are there a lot of bad PHP programmers, yes.. I bet there are a lot of bad C programmers out there as well. We are just lucky they dont get to commit changes to the kernel or we would all be FUBAR.
Those with tin hats would rather die in a snow storm them anyone know where they are.
Give me a break. Its a life saving tool. It would not know who the hiker was so I say screw it. If they don't like it let them go get lost somewhere else..
Since in this case they do have a choice.. Your not forcing them to walk down your monitored trail, they are choosing to do it on there own then forget it.
I would be midly surprised if you had one person go home because they where afraid you might be able to track them when the next snow storm hits and there to stupid to come back.
Your basically hijacking a post about comcast giving people that clearly performed a illegal action the chance to redeem themselves and not get in trouble with the law.
If they had been downloading a copy of Quantum Leap then you would have a basis for your argueement.
Ahh but that defines the taking of solid objects and was put in webster before computers even existed.
If I take a copy of microsofts source code home and put it on the internet not only can I be fined for possible losses but even jail time is possible if they can prove my intent to defraud them.
I said jail.. That can mean a week to think about what you did. I didn't say the state pen.
I think the punishment should be based on the actions..
1) Did you download it to watch yourself? 2) Did you download it with the intent to put on your ftp server for others to download. 3) Did you record it with the intent to distribute illegally.
I haven't bought a CD in almost 3 years. I have a live365 account and I listen to music there.
I hate taxes, But I pay them.. Because I think our goverment spends to much money, because I think the tax laws are just not right, Do I not pay my taxes and get thrown in jail. Or do I vote for the people I feel will affect the taxes the most?
Its not about WHO is right or wrong. Its about the actions WE as the people take to try and right those wrongs.
No I am not.. What I am saying is 2 wrongs do not make a right.
You feel its wrong, Argue the legal valid points. Don't just download music because you think your punishing the RIAA for there acts. Your feeding there power not working to prevent it when you take those actions.
At what point does it step past "freedom" and into illegal?
Do I have the right to shoot the noise dog next door to be "free" of the noise?
Why not? When our "freedoms" and illegal cross steps have to be taken. By supporting the illegal actions regardless of the cause or ideal behind it you bolster the RIAA's arguments.
Yea, fair use and all that crap.
Most of the music downloaded is theft. The person has no copy of the song.
The movies downloaded, Its theft plain and simple.. That day 0 copy of the next StarWars can and should land you in jail plain and simple.
The problem here folks, ever here the old saying "The noisy wheel gets all the grease". Yes a small percentage of people are within there rights, But when you stand up for your rights and try to throw "blanket" statements saying music should just be free and all that you do nothing more then Oil the RIAA wheel so they can move further down the road to reducing our rights.
WE are the ones removing our rights. We do this by making stupid statements, by performing illegal actions and in turn throwing fuel in the RIAA fire.
If you want to preach stick to the truth, Stick to your rights. Don't sit there and tell me you should be able to download that movie that hasn't even hit the theaters yet and claim to be for the people and all righteous in your actions.
When you have a site like this.. That gets slashdotted, thinking that the thousand's of visitors there wont be a ahole that wiki-kills the page is stupid..
Anyway I was nice and pulled up the diff/fixed it.. lets see how long it lasts.
Whats the diffrence between Hotmail, Yahoo, Every other free email provider out there And Google..
Nothing, google is just upfront and honest about whats happening to your emails.
They have to "scan" through them to provide virus and spam protection.
They will use there distributed approach to searching to provide fast web based email services. This means your email could be on 100's of there servers at the same time. When you hit delete it might take a while for it to be removed from all systems.
Here a company steps forward and is 100% honest about what they are doing and we flame them.
No wonder we have to deal with lame support and excuses from companys every day.
And tommorow they are going to pass a law that requires us all to buy new fridges with item monitors so they can monitor our protien intake and arrest us prior to commiting crimes based on all the bad food we eat..
Get a grip, I think the tin in your foil hat has started to rot your brain
Here is a company who in public says GPL is not legal. And these people are trying to use GPL against them.
SCO is not going to listen, they haven't listened to sense and reason since this whole thing started whats to make anyone think they will listen to a legal statement based on GPL which they declare is not legal to begin with.
In theory its great but unless nmap has the ability to back up its legal claims in court its pretty useless in this matter.
So much foil your neck is going to snap

This information allows them to know there market, plan shipments and various other usefull things.
But instead you would prefer to assume they are tracking how many brain killing gulps of beer your drinking so they know when your drunk enough to use there super secret beer tracking brain scanner to download your life and the history of your poor sex life.
God I wish people would get off there "I want everything for free" High around here..
The people who bought a FX5950 Ultra payed more for a card rated to work at higher speeds, For a warrenty that will still be valid if there card fails due to normal reasons.
They paided more because they choose to do so.
Tommorow someones going to complain that a version of quickbooks pro can be upgraded to quickbooks business with a simple crack, and that is just not fair to the people who spent real money on quickbooks business.
Or.. The diamond ring my friend bought is exactly the same as mine, but I paided more.. Its just wrong.. How dare stores charge diffrent prices.
Windows 2003 Can support unlimited users, But you pay for it. Its the exact same software regardless. How dare microsoft expect you to pay for such a thing.

Umm your wrong..
If you beat me and I refuse to press charges the case will be dropped.
Some legal actions require a complaining party as witness of the action. This is true in this case.
Considering this happened for for a film that is still in the theaters its impossible for a person to be downloading for legal reasons.
Hey moron. The post was not about the rights or wrongs of the laws passed.
It was about us supporting RIAA's movement by performing, supporting, and telling people to do the acts they say we are doing.
Ahh but that defines the taking of solid objects and was put in webster before computers even existed.

No, you mistunderstood.
I agree the methods are wrong, But its our own actions that have fueled the methods.
Plenty of the actions by the "Homeland of Securitys" can be deems wrong and against our founding fathers ideals.
Why then do they get away with it. Because the "wheel" called terrorism made so much noise the goverment had to act.
Because this wheel is extremely noisy.
If enough people made noise about white color crimes laws would change, actions would be taken.
We as a people pick and choose what we fight for and against. But unless you take into consideration your actions there are penaltys.
I think copyright is wrong, Does that make it right for me to download music I don't own.
I think abortion is wrong, Does that make it right for me to blow up hospitals that perform those abortions?
If I think copyright is wrong, Does that make it right for me to download music I don't own.
Where do we draw the line? At some point it has to be drawn.
We have the freedom to live LEGAL lives.
At what point does it step past "freedom" and into illegal?
Do I have the right to shoot the noise dog next door to be "free" of the noise?

Did I say that? No those points where just a couple of the failings of things going on around here.
Yes people are making illegal copies of music, however the RIAA is twisting and abusing the system and laws to suit there own needs.
They do not care about the "realm" of "fair use".
To them the only fair use invovles a direct deposit to there pockets.
The music industry itself is in for a Revolution, more and more artists are standing up for themselves again the RIAA and the like.
In the end they are going to sue themselves out of business.
I am just plain sick of the direction things are going in the good old USA.

What can I look forward to in the next 30 years.
Medicare is failing
Social Security will be gone
Our rights our being stripped
This is just another example of the slow erosion of the fountain this country was founded on.
http://yro.slashdot.org/~cyberlotnet/journal/66
The problem with the whole concept in general to me is security.
Company A holds your credit card information and controls the sign up system.
Company B You make purchases through there system, credit card details are pulled from company A, your happy
Slap on 100 Company B's each with the ability to pull your credit card data so you can make purchases.
You now have 100 new possible locations for a hacker to crack, giving them access to a massive database of credit card data.
A chain is only as strong as its weakest link. The more merchants you add to this style system, the better change your chain will break one day.
And tommorow they are going to pass a law that requires us all to buy new fridges with item monitors so they can monitor our protien intake and arrest us prior to commiting crimes based on all the bad food we eat..
