  1. OK, this is it. on AOL Shuts Down 3rd Party IM Software? · · Score: 1

I guess AOL wants it to be us versus them. Either you are with AOL, or opposed to AOL. You use the right OS, AOL only, and do what you are told, or you go to and burn in hell. Times like this makes me wish that the DOJ would look into one more particular company........

  2. I love this... on DoS Vulnerability On Nokia Phones · · Score: 1

I think this is hilarious. Maybe we can use this as some sort of giant DDoS attack against Nokia.

  3. Simple solution. on Will Legalities Choke Off Online Volunteerism? · · Score: 1

In cases like this, simply give the employees a choice. You can continue to recieve Hardware, etcetera, or you can recieve a flat minimum wage pay. But if you do choose the minimum wage, there may be reduced hours you are allowed to work. I see no problem with recieving hardware for work. If both parties understand and agree from the get-go, isn't it like being contracted for a certain job? You work a toward a certain goal, when that goal is achieved, you get your reward. Sounds like a good idea to me.

  4. Great on California's Internet Tax Bill Slithers Forward · · Score: 1

Bring it on. Tax the internet, then tax everything else. Maybe we can go to a per-minute fee for all internet access, regardless of ISP. Then we can all wear brown uniforms, with red armbands, and walk in unison. And then, we can all let Big Brother decide what is best for each and every one of us.

Sorry. Slippery slope idea just took right the hell off there didn't it?

  6. More crap. on IOC To Olympic Athletes: Online Diaries Verboten · · Score: 1

As if commercialization in the games nowadays wasn't bad enough. We don't even cheer for athletes anymore, we cheer for uniforms and colors. I used to watch baseball, then I discovered computers, then I discovered StarCraft. End of baseball. It was still interesting to me, but a good Zerg Rush isn't brought to you by McDonalds. A Protoss Battleship attacking isn't sponsored in part by Nike. And a Terran getting reamed isn't paid for by the good people at Coca-Cola, who want to remind you, that when you are playing Terran and getting slammed in the ass, it's always Coca-Cola.

  7. More iCab stuff. on Alternative Browser Review · · Score: 1

First off, I have IE5, NetScape 4.7, and iCab 2.1a on my Mac. I have them all, yes.

What do I use? iCab. Without Question. Unless i have to use Java for some reason, then I use IE5. I really need to de-install NetScape.
I use iCab for one reason. BLINDING SPEED. It just works faster, and is really more compliant than any other browsers I've seen. Call my nuts, but I like the little thing. As for the ugly comments, C-Net must not have seent he 20 or so skins on the download page along with it. Grab what you like! I'm running and Aqua skin right now.

And on another note, they used a negative for iCab as "only on the Mac." Well, do they mention negatives like, "only on the PC." Hell no! Once Again, C-Net throws us a bone, and then promptly trips over it. Not everyone is a Win/PC user.

  8. Private moments. on Protecting Your Company While Protecting Privacy? · · Score: 1

Companies should provide two Email addresses. One for internal (business) and one external (personal). Monitor the internal. Make back up logs of the external, but do not open them unless required by a judge to.
Or, by the same lines, stop blocking sites like Hotmail off. If people want to send personal EMail, make them use that, and then it is totally the responsibility of the user.

  9. OK. That's it. I've had enough. on More Threats From The MPAA · · Score: 1

Screw the MPAA. I've taken all I can of the crap they spew out. The good movies are all done by independents anyway. If I wear a shirt with mirror sites can I be sued? If I wear a shirt with the source code on a webcast, can I be sued?

IF I TATTOO IT ON MY ASS, CAN I BE SUED?
I'd like to see them sue me. I study case law. I study Constitutional law and cases. Bring it right the hell on.

  10. Re:Maybe I'm wrong but.... on Similarities Between DeCSS And The Connectix VGS Case? · · Score: 1

I have little to no doubt that connectix can fake a PS2 on Mac Hardware. It may take G4 to do it, but I have no doubt. Hell, the lowest CVGS can run on is a first gen iMac, but if you use something faster it tends to run better. How many people thought years ago that any game system could be emulated on a computer? I mean, which one is really moving faster in advancement? Consoles or Computers? Or are they, as I figure, moving parallel. Consoles may move up, but Computers are always there, and vice-versa.

Or maybe I should just go back to playing my Dreamcast. I think I hear Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 calling me....

Wasn't a big part of the DeCSS legal strategy the Sony/Connectix case... until Connectix won? Then the MPAA kinda let it fall by the wayside.... I may be wrong for all I know, but I think I'm right.

Anyway, as a Mac User, I use CVGS to play on my iBook. It ain't a tv, but it plays real nice, I have all the memory cards I want, plus screenshots of cool game sequences make great backgrounds. All Connectix has to do now is make a version for the DVD Macs for the PlayStation 2. I think that'll work out real nice....

  17. *Ugh* on RIAA Claims Initial Legal Win vs. Napster · · Score: 1

Well, first we have the Motion Picture industry slowly prosecuting everyone who has ever been within ten feet of the DeCSS code, the MPAA give ratings to movies on an almost arbitrary basis, and now, networks are responsible for the content that flows through them. A few predictions: One, expect Hotline to be next. These guys have a great network system, but *gasp* they are responsible for illegal software being distrubuted! Two, Napster WILL NOT slow down anytime soon. The appeals process usually tkaes a while, so d/l those illegal songs while you can kids! Three, expect even more draconian rulings and laws to be passed down, as long as the judges are influenced by money and big business. It just don't look no better.
