    If the CO2 in our atmosphere was a few percent higher we would die. It's toxic past about 10,000ppm. We need it more-or-less as it is. Sad but true.

    Just like anything, at the end of its life... such as a battery for a flashlight... it dims a bit then back to normal.... Supernova. And with that recent article about how supernovas life killing effects has now practically doubled its distance... this is my conclusion. (I cant find the article but im sure you've read it).

    If you're using your experience with everyday objects to act as a guide for how you should think about things like supernovae, all I can say is... Don't. There is literally no comparison.

    Whether people want them or not, at present (and for the forseeable future) fully autonomous vehicles are a fantasy.

    What about fax machines? Do you believe in them? Any other already-existing technology you prefer to deny the existence of? I used a toaster this morning, so you really can't have that.

    The free market has decided that it doesn't want self-driving cars.

    Do something useful for a change, like developing better ways to stop worms and ransomware.

    It quickly became a way to separate those with typographical sophistication from the hoi polloi.

    "The hoi polloi" is like saying "the La Brea tar pits" or "The big Rio Grande river".

    Thanks for the heads up, but I intend to discard this information so it doesn't start bothering me as well. That's pretty much the only usage of that that you see.
