Did you even read the parent? He stated that he has very good credit, not that he can't direct his own finances. There aren't any financial problems to admit. Before you start whining, why don't you read the friggin post first.
Imagine that this system was widely used and every week/month everyone had to figure out which codes they had place in their subject line to communicate with people. Also, how many minutes do you think it would take for the spammers to write a script that scanned the bounced message and append the code to the next round of e-mail?
I mean, if the marathon record gets 10 minutes shorter every few years, for example, that doesn't necessarily mean that 100 years from now we'll be running a 20 minute marathon.
Just a track and field nitpick:
The marathon world record is usually broken by seconds, not 10 minutes. Since 1908, the record has never been broken by more than seven minutes. The improvement the last five times the record has been broken:
The current record is held by Khalid Khannouchi of the US. On April 14, 2002, he ran the London marathon in 2:05:38, breaking his old record by 4 seconds.

From a hiring point of view, I'd ask, "From 1998 to 2003 what was the longest you were unemployed" -- if they answered more than 3 months I wouldn't hire them.
That's utterly absurd. You're assuming that anyone who was unemployed for longer didn't have the technical and/or interpersonal skills to get a position. Do you know how many great candidates you'd be eliminating with this requirement?

[1.1.1] What do the letters DVD stand for? All of the following have been proposed as the words behind the letters DVD.
Delayed, very delayed (referring to the many late releases of DVD formats) Diversified, very diversified (referring to the proliferation of recordable formats and other spinoffs) Digital venereal disease (referring to piracy and copying of DVDs) Dead, very dead (from naysayers who predicted DVD would never take off) Digital video disc (the original meaning suggested by some of DVD's creators) Digital versatile disc (the meaning later suggested by some of DVD's creators) Nothing
And the official answer is? "Nothing." The original acronym came from "digital video disc." Some members of the DVD Forum (see 6.1) tried to express that DVD goes far beyond video by retrofitting the painfully contorted phrase "digital versatile disc," but this has never been officially accepted by the DVD Forum as a whole. The consensus is now that DVD, as an international standard, is simply three letters. After all, who cares what VHS stands for? (Guess what, no one agrees on that one either.
It's true that the Pope can retire whenever he wants, but retiring isn't usually considered "losing your job". I believe the parent meant that there's only one way for the Pope to get forced out, i.e. the Big Pink Slip.
Divide by 5 neighbors: you get 300Kbps symmetric for $80 a month.
That's assuming that all 5 people are using the network at the same time. For example, if it's 3 AM there's a good chance you have that whole pipe to yourself.
Anyone can play baseball, just as anyone can play chess. Playing either game at the highest level is a completely different matter. Very few people ever approach Kramnik's level just as only a handful of baseball players have performed as the level of Barry Bonds.
Should all traffic signs and signals be the same colour, because the wording and/or shapes should be good enough?
Well, all speed limit signs are the same shape and color because they all serve the same purpose. All bills are the same shape and color because they are designed to show their value.
If the copies degrade with each duplication, as analog video does, then a peer-to-peer network isn't nearly as useful: you can only copy the show out to limited number of people before it degrades to grey noise.
If an analog copy is made from the original, the quality only degrades once. After that one-time hit, the data can be stored and distributed in digital format. It's the same with the copy protected CDs. In the absolute worst case, the sound from the speaker is recorded with a microphone and then stored as a regular MP3.
At Showcase Cinemas, the projectionists are regular managers who have gone to projection school. They make about $25K-30K on average. There have been a few attempts to unionize, but I highly doubt it will be successful. It's just not that hard to perform the daily duties and the complex maintainance is done by contractors. One manager can handle the booth duties for a theater of 14-20 screens.
You'd have more money left if you stopped paying $20 for $14 CDs.
I see the $20 CD figure thrown around a lot on Slashdot. Does anyone actually pay $20 for their CDs? I don't mean a double CD set or an export, there's a reason those are more expensive. And I don't mean a $16.99 CD that you've decided to round up to $20. It usually doesn't matter what the exact price is, but when you use the mythical $20 value to determine the RIAA's profit, that's just faulty math.
The Printer/PS2 analogy doesn't hold up because you never reach the point where you must buy another PS2 game (I'm sure this invites responses of what games must be bought). You will eventually reach the point where you run out of ink/toner and must buy a replacement.
It doesn't sound "clichayed" (?), just trollish. A customer's rights shouldn't be taken away simply because they choose closed software.

Perhaps Apple made the change several years too early.

Anyone with 3+ years experience can find a job fairly easily
Speaking of fairly large assumptions...

Since the line was italicized, I believe it was the submitter, not Hemos, who wrote that clever phrase.

It wasn't spoiled for me, I'd already seen it twice. What that guy did was list plot points that are NOT revealed in the original trilogy.
Saying that Anakin becomes Darth Vader, fine.
Divulging the plot of a movie that's been released for only a few days, not fine.
Hey buddy, Dokoo is spelled Dooku and those are Clonetroopers, Stormtroopers. Thanks for spoiling it, jackass.
Where?
What are the current production costs for the PS2, Xbox and Gamecube?
Which companies will be making money ate the reduced prices and which will be losing on each sale?
Cmon, give it a break...

I'm willing to bet that a quarter per song is more than most artists get if you buy their album at full price.
That's a quarter of a cent ($.0025), not a quarter of a dollar ($.25).
