    Keep in mind that I'm not only talking about Microsfot, but also about other meglo-maniacal corporations. It just isn't good long-term business sense, nor is it good for the rest of the world... not just your current market, to squeeze the life out of the dollar. You'll end up with a sore hand.

    Seriously, there is a basic economic flaw in most Western corporate minds. Perhaps a change of long-term goals would be a GoodThing(TM).

    BTW, I am an American... although I may not agree with my comrades most of the time.

    Ahh yes, another major flaw in Western Economics... You must keep growing at an accelerated rate.... not work at the point of equalization and expand in the next year... one of the many reasons the Economy is in the poor state it's in... that and hype.

    Fool. Use an alternate service... Satalite phones, something... anything for crying out loud. You people may think I was trolling. But bupkiss to you. I mean it. If I don't want to support something, I stop supporting it. Geesh. Go out there... Start making waves with people who are like-minded... get some cash, and start a business to fight those you don't want to support! Get out there, lay lines. Hell, don't like the govm't handling the roads? Start a privitization coalition. Get out there and raise money and pay someone else to pave the roads. It can be done. You don't have to rely on the govm't to take care of you. You should take that responsibility on yourself.

    You can CHOOSE not to use it. If you want privacy... don't walk around with your pants down and expect not to be seen. You make the decision to use their product. Why you have an expectancy of any privacy at all is beyond me. Hell, I'd make you pay for it... the privacy that is. Hey, that's not a bad idea. Make everything non-private and charge for privacy expectations!

    Now... if Linux got this... and the desktop folks got into this... We'd be unstopable. I really liked the printer demonstration. Just plug that puppy onto the network and viola! It's installed and configured. File sharing, etc would be a breeze. Oh, and it's an 'open' standard with IETF.

    And you can spend your life being miserable... from 7 to 5. You spend more time in your llife at work than any other waking hour. Why not try to enjoy it. If you loose the will to do that thing you loved to do... get another job somwhere that allows you to do something else you enjoy... Same basic theory, but on a much more realistic scale.

    Here is an idea... make a business out of fighting Microsoft. Grab all the Free Software you can... pay developers to improve it... package it and sell it. Then, you can charge for service/training etc. Show folks how much they will really save. Don't rely on other's opinions, sit down and do the numbers yourself. Then, show how well you'll be able to communicate with all that other Free Software that everyone will use. Show them that Big Brother is watching, and that they own your life if you choose to use their software. There is a market folks... I know I'm going to get in the game, you should too!

    I seem to remember MS Word being a clone of WordPerfect...which was a clone of WordStar. As a matter of fact, I remember finding WordPerfect Helpfiles in a version of MS Word. Be a crony somewhere else.

    Yes, it did occur to me, but I decided it wasn't worth ruining my honeymoon. I'm sure that the animators make the decision on the tools they use, but not the corporate whores like ol Mike.

    Not only does she _let_ me talk shop, she runs Linux(which just so happens to use GNU tools, therefore, I will call it GNU/Linux). And yes, she is hot!

    The corporate types are really that clueless. However, it seemed to me that many of the regular folks that work there are pretty safe-minded people. I can tell you one thing though, I got a good laugh or two when I was approached five times by people with wearable computers running XPEmbedded... and they couldn't get them to stay running long enough to take but one interview(of the five).

    It's one of their tours at MGM/Disney Studios. They have a Q&A session towards the end and you get to see lots of the stuff in action behind great big glass walls. I was(of course) plastered to them most of the time trying to get a glimpse(they were using SGI machines for the most part).

    is great. I saw it in action when I went to Disney World for my honeymoon in May. I asked several questions about the software and about GNU/Linux and they seemed to be quite enthusiastic about it in general. It makes sense really. They write all of their own software, so why not have an OS that they can completely manipulate, without paying extra for the code!

    The tendency to blindly worship things like google/linux/linus/transmeta is far too common on this site.

    Well, look at it this way... if you want to look at a fan site for something else, go there. Don't expect everyone to be completely objective. Fact of the matter is that most people who are subjective, are vocal about said topics. Folks that don't care, or don't want to inadvertently press anyone into anything generally don't peep.

    lol, I do like your sarcasm.

    I was hoping to get more than just Christians into the discussion, but it seems like that isn't too likely to hapen(asside from what you wrote). I do quite agree that if the christian god exsists as is discribed to me by various persons, then he does seem a bit heartless. But, I suppose that compassion is a human trait.

    Thanks. I appreciate your reaction. I was wondering if you would go off topic or turn this into a heated debate. You're probably the nicest guy that I have ever disagreed with.

    You aren't the first to say that, however I am flattered.

    You mean that you have to take the most logical choice, with the best economical results?

    I'd say that's pretty close to what I mean.

    You should be careful with what you say.

    I decided a while back that anything that I say will, unfortunatly, get someone rilled up. That's really too bad, they could get some sort of perspective by listening to others instead of getting offended. I certainly applaud your handling of the opinions written here.

    I appreciate the time that you put into replying and even starting this discussion. Thank you, it was quite fun stretching the ol' head muscle!

    An interesting perspective, to be sure. I have to look at things in about the same sense as a businessman. Anecdotal evidence is not good enough for me. Personal bias, miscommunications, etc happen far too often when one person takes down the events of the day, then pass it along. I do appreciate your input and respect your willingness to thoughtfully backup your beliefs. That alone, in my book, makes a person good.
