Heh. Have taught daughter cursive, drafting lettering and uncial script calligraphy. It's fun and who knows, may be useful one day. If nothing else, she's good at making signs and such for school and clubs.
Another thing to check is parental involvement within the school. Our elementary school (daughter is 5th grade, started in K at same school) has a heavy parent involvement within the classrooms/PTA as well as after school activities (scouts/4-H/clubs). This is a small rural school: around 200 students and majority of families have one or both parents working at a research lab. So yeah, lots of parental involvement, lots of books in houses, lots of natural talent and higher incomes/property values.
Still, doesn't a decent education doesn't require these things, if a child is disposed to learn. I grew up in a single parent household (mom worked two jobs; didn't get home until 10PM), going to an inner city school. Lots of fights/knifings and such and I thought it was normal. Luckily, I liked to read and pretty much devoured all the science books in each library (ES/MS/HS). I sucked at finishing homework and projects but aced tests all day long.
Or find someone who's also avoided the long term relationship pitfalls during their 20's as well. Both the wife and I had never lived with a partner or dated anyone long term (6+ months) before we met; no kids (except for our daughter, born a year after we got married), no ex's, no money problems, etc. Biggest problem; she had a dog and I had a cat.
I'd like to see some of the alt-history folks take a swing at a Gore presidency. I mean, I couldn't vote for him after researching him back to his state legislature days (talk about flip-flopping on issues) but I figured that, like Bill Clinton, he'd actually be ok as president. Knowing Bush W's past, oh HELL no was I gonna vote for him. I just figured I'd do my part for third party representation like I'd done in earlier elections (I tried to get students at my college interested in any candidate running, even as write in's, showing them just how diverse the alternatives were to the two parties out there). Who knew the election coulda' been swung by just a few thousand votes.
Obviously not a libertarian. I mean, Saint Adam Smith never called for a regulation of the market place and was perfectly fine with rent-seeking. As for transparency so that all could operate from a level playing field; ludicrous!
Don't tell me about kudzu. I'm from Florida and have seen the lengths gone to to get rid of it. A construction company once dug up a tap root larger than a car in an effort to clear a 2 acre property of the stuff. Freakin' space alien stuff it is.
Hmmm... sold out of preferred item, in your size, and colors you'd find acceptable? Sounds like they're doing ok and just don't stock around your schedule.

You're familiar with his mom's hot pocket?
Candy's dandy but liquor's quicker

What are you talking about? I can no longer play Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri after upgrading to OS X 10.7. And that game's only 12 years old!
Pour, beleaguered Microsoft. Sun should buy them.
Hey, that'd work, except get rid of that spinner thing and mount the phone there.
Wait until they set up the iPhone to hang on the wall, with an earpiece you hold up to your head when making a call.
Your rite!
Well, sure, if you're stationed out at the ass-end of the universe, where you know everybody.
Justice is difficult
Persecution is easy.
Or a roommate's shoes.

I voted for Nader in 2000. In Florida.
D'oh!

*golf clap*
(*cricket clap?*)
Texans would be jealous and calling for introduction of elephants over here.
What if we uplift the elephants, give them some kind of manipulative digits (trunk fingers?) and then tell them to do no evil? That'll work, right?

With easy-to-follow path around store.
Management puts up more lingerie/tire ads in areas husbands congregate.
But, but, DogDude might be a weak-willed git and susceptible to Amazon's siren song.
