When I was a medic in the Air Force (80's), doctors there were pretty happy being in military. Their schooling was paid by the gov't, they didn't have to run an office or have insurance, and they had not HMO's/Insurance companies second guessing them and giving them grief for proscribing tests and treatments that they want instead of the minimum a bean counter would allow.
India has a lot of manufacturing factories, usually set up as shared sites. Can't remember the tractor brand I was researching a few years ago (Cub Cadet? Ford?) but they set up a factory in India and the deal was that half it's production would be 'American brand' tractors and the other half would be sold under an Indian name. 'Course, the Indian brand tractors were 3/4-2/3 less than the American brand and painted a different color but other than that, totally the same. One marketing plus in the U.S. is that you can get parts for them at any 'American brand' supplier.
Same thing goes with Royal Enfield motorcycles. They're all manufactured in India.
I think the big deal with China is how it's marshaled it's manufacturing cities so that they're basically a one-stop shop. Shenzhen is geared towards consumer electronics, has all the sub-suppliers there, and a large pool of trained workers. Same goes for other manufacturing cities in China: they group the industries together to lower costs and such. I haven't heard of such things happening in India but it's possible it's happening by more of a free market process rather than a gov't directed one.
Exactly! All Apple does is market to know-nothing hipsters with more money than sense and if all these people would just pay attention to what the smart people on Slashdot have to say they wouldn't be waisting all this money on useless tablet computers that can't even compile a basic python script or run a 3D CAD/CAM controller app.
Um... it's a well known fact that everyone well knows that all Apple users are Penny-farthing riding hipsters with handlebar mustaches who don't even know how to turn on their Apple stuff and in fact most of them never even open the boxes, they just like walking around showing them off to the other Apple hipsters on their bikes and so they never even know that inside there's not even an electronical device but just a piece of clay because Apple doesn't even know how to make anything; they're just marketers.
I prefer the term marinaded, or maybe smoked in sin.
Well, there's Winkie country, Munchkin land, Quadling country and Gillikin land.

Ewwww! I don't want a device made from my waste. Can you imagine someone trying to sell a brown electronic device?
I wish the U.S. had some national labs up in Canada. I'd like to live there.
So... make a durable case and sell upgrade for the guts?
Damn it! Why didn't I think of this?
Oh yeah, I'm a tech who just fixes things.
So... copper or aluminum computer cases? That's whack!
Lauren Bacall in To Have and Have Not. That's Hoagy on piano, playing in an island bar where shootings and such happen. Not the nicest of places.
Or for those that can't type.
Heh. Reminds me of a job posting I saw in '96, asking for a Web Master with 10+ years experience.
Don't be playing any Hoagy Carmichael. You know what kind of riff-raff his music draws.
With Johnny Depp and Brad Pit?
Ok, I'm too old to know who's the next set after them.
*golf clap*

I move we start measuring distance in light forthours.
According to my dogs, I'm the god of good treats and he who knows how to make the adventure box go down the road.
Damn it, forgot the berets. That's what makes the chicks with handlebar mustaches so cute!

Or wait for the iPad 3 to come out so they can pick up an iPad 2 when it's price drops to something a bit more palatable.

Has the iPad 3 come out yet? Doubt the iPad 2 price will drop before it does.
And that "LASER" project on the moon.
We're gonna keep our eye on you.
