All those new customers are merely hipster posers who hang out at Starbucks, have handle bar mustaches and ride penny farthing bikes. They couldn't program in assembly on a TMS9900 if you set their feet on fire and had a ring of naked women throwing pickles at them. In other words, total losers who make more money then they know what to do with. If they had any sense, they woulda' donated to Firefly fandom so that it wouldn't have been canceled.
I still have my Quadra 650. It had 12 MB of RAM. Still runs and handles Photoshop 2.5/Illustrator 5.5 just fine as well. I can't throw it out as I've never had any problems with it.
Yup, my workplace is working at removing data from local machines and keeping it available from any approved system. Sure, it's not hosted on Amazon or Google's servers but the concept's the same.
Yup, art college drop out here. I had a GI Bill burning a hole in my pocket and there didn't seem to be many math classes listed in program. 2 years later, I had decent drawing/painting/sculpting skills (technique is easy to learn) but really had nothing to say. Cool thing was, I also learned I had some skills at figuring out computer problems and am now doing ok in tech support. I don't consider my time/money wasted, though. Is nice to have some idea of what art is about, how it's developed, etc. Makes it easy to make small talk with some customers, too.
Dood! The real problem in the world is the rise of the middle class. They need to get rid of enlightenment thought, restrict ownership of property and money to an autocratic elite and stamp a boot down on anyone who dares to desire what their betters have.
Per standard computer security in DOE, even if classified documents have been released on uncontrolled systems, it's still against the law to access those documents on a non-classified system.
Yup. I've been recommending for years for regular customers to be isolated from the hardware and only have access to a VM instance. My work is slowly moving in this direction.
The contact thing I can see happening, since they don't allow a way to export address book. That kinda' sucks.
Seems like there would be a market for a home server business. Maybe make a router/server that would tie in to social sites for publishing as well as be a cache for d/l AV files?
I sorta' have this with a Mac Mini server sitting next to my Airport Express router. Would be nice to have all in one box.
I'm just not sure how you get a file up on Facebook without leaving a copy on your system. I mean, even the Win7 phone, it'll send a photo to Facebook but it's still on the phone, right?
My photos would still be on my desktop system, my backup drive and on my web server. When you post to Facebook, it copies the files up to it. Not sure how'd you make it do a move.
Current finance regulations are what caused all the problems. If people hadn't grown up with the need to get around gov't regulation, they never would have learned to be duplicitous and greedy and instead, would live lives of mild temperament and contemplation. Remember, all children are saint like and it's just society that teaches them to be mean and controlling.
Eventually, TSA will require all phones to scan through clothes and broadcast an updated image every 4 minutes to Hot or Not.

Too bad Mountain does make a Three Wolf Moon golf shirt. Could use one of those at work.
They can leave their hats on as well.

You have a high UID. Heh!
Regular bollocks, dog bollocks or ex-gf has stomped all over my bollocks?
I think it's spelled J - O - N.
But I'm not going to invoke him. I'll just watch old reruns of The Critic and that other cartoon that came on after it.
I thought /. was a labor of love. How can you let go someone who works for free?
YES!
Mr. Gadget ROCKS!

Funny thing is there is now a glut of commercial space out there.
*golf clap*
Thank you for a very succinct summation of security procedures.
