That's nasty.. Once again, I'm stunned by IE's (lack of) security that lets a simple web site make such changes without any kind of user intervention..
"Your browser is not WIN32 compatible"
"ADWARE NOT INSTALLED."
"If you have our adware on your computer and would like to get rid of it, please click here."
This is just the normal effect of effective brainwashing (advertising). For the same reasons people buy cars with small motors and lots of PS.
I thought you were going to say, "..and lots of Type-R stickers, an airplane wing on the back, oversized tailpipe, LED nipples on the hood, and cheesy Neon effects underneath.
Welcome to the world of mass marketing.. of course most people have no real idea of the internal functions of a processor (nor do they need to), but Dell says that they need a PIV 3.2 GHz so that's what they look for, so they can read their email.
I think a lot of people are realizing now that they don't need such processor speed. My Dad is still chugging along with his old 400 MHz P2, running Windohs 98. Asked him about upgrading, and he replied, "Why? It does everything I need it to..":)
It seems like AMD has fixed their heat problem with the XP line. My old Thunderbird 1.2 GHz ran pretty hot (60+ c), but this shiny new 2600+ actually runs much cooler (40-50 c), not to mention more powerful.
Also when AMD came out with their new "product rating", like most prople I was skeptical. However, the ratings do seem to be accurate. In every one of these benchmarks, the XP 1700+ smokes the P4 1.8 GHz.
Woah, a helpful AC. Thanks for the heads up, though I really have no issue with NVidia's binary drivers. (Unlike certain Free software zealots) Sure, GPL'd drivers would be nice, but well-working propriatary drivers are fine too.
Just watched this again with a friend, and her first comment when seeing the wood elves was, "they look like a cross between Gollum and an Ent!". Also Gollum looked way to frog-like in the animated Hobbit. Overall tho, it is a fair adaptation and some (SOME!) of the songs are pretty fun too.
Actually, I've done a bit of contract work for a place that was using Chillisoft ASP. It ran as well as it does on IIS, which makes it a decent solution to Microsoft's vendor lock-in for those companies unfortunate enough to have critical apps written in the godforsaken language.
The Special Extended DVD mostly redeemed the film in my eyes, but several sequences are still painful to watch. Namely "Aragorn Falls Off a Cliff", and "Frodo Almost Gives Ring to Nazgul".

At least he's got a DTD, which puts him ahead of most sites out there. :)

What is the purpose of this site exactly?
Niven rules, I just wish he'd write another Smoke Ring novel.. Of course there's talk of a fourth Ringworld book on the way, so that's all good. :)
Ah, just send em to colonize those Integral Trees..
You had 9800 baud? I had a 300 baud modem, and liked it! Sure, it was faster to just walk into town to talk to people, but this was over the computer!
You're right, those Samoans have no excuse..

Except they got it backwards.
MS = Blue Pill
Linux = Red Pill
Better yet, the 1812 overture. Just don't forget to put in earplugs for the cannon solo! <eg>
Especially capitalist pig's blood. Muahaha..
Many thanks
The image seems to be missing, can anybody put up a mirror or torrent?

FWIW, my Nforce2-based board works just dandy with the 2.4.22 kernel, although I needed NVidia's binary package to enable the built in Ethernet port.
Hookers
..and Blackjack!

The part where a judge authorizes the warrant..
I'm one of those late-adopters, still using WinNT as my primary OS
I'm sorry..

Huh? The Genesis/Megadrive used a Motorola 68k as it's primary CPU.
The "Diet" link is in the bottom right of the green area. Took me about 5 minutes to find it too, not very user friendly. :(
