And don't worry if you believe that 'north of the 49th' isn't anywhere cold enough. Hey it's only been -38C here for the last 3 weeks, I'm sure that's plenty warm.
The studies have already been done on migraines and fluorescent lighting. Almost 50% that get them, had them triggered by the flicker of the lights. Studies are out there, you can use google.
You mean the irresponsible behavior of people who kick into nimbyism because they don't want new power plants built, therefore other methods of 'conserving' power are needed?
Congress passed a bipartisan law to require that bulbs be more efficient.
Well in the north, they're 100% efficient. They give light, and radiate heat. I've actually seen my energy costs go up by about 10% when I switched to them. I've since switched back to plain old incandescent bulbs, and tossed all the CFL's I had.
This isn't counting the CFL's I didn't used in my reading lamps and so on. I gave them a shot, I really did. I got tired of the flicker and migraines the bloody things gave me.
I was thinking more along the lines of he'll have purged the majority of his supporters before the UN forms a committee on it. As it's going right now, you've got his thugs running around hacking people up(house to house). You have mercs from some of the bloodiest intra-africa conflicts there, opening fire on people and dragging the bodies away.
Of course there is some heartening stuff like the fighter pilots who ran to malta, or the couple that ditched in the desert and ran like hell. He doesn't have absolute control on his military, but he has enough that a lot of people are going to die.
And regardless of that, this is going to be the status-quo for the next 10 years in the middle east.
Well in Canada, I can say that we've had at least 3 to 4 dozen failed terrorist attempts since the Air India bombing. Yet we're able to get along pretty well without the government being hyper-invasive over everything(laws are generally modified to fit the times/issues--aka modifying the wiretap act to include electronic information and so on). Despite all the whining over the terrorism act, it's done it's job without a serious problem to the vast majority of Canucks.
Really I think it's because the government took a balanced approach to it. I mean we had the FLQ(ended with martial law, war measures act in place for a bit, and other stuff), we've had other idiots, and domestic terrorism isn't common but it's not unheard of(see idiots trying to blow sour gas lines out west, or the various flavors of muslims who've tried the kill parliment(at both levels), along with other crap). And yet I can still travel here without being body probed.
I'm honestly surprised there hasn't been a full scale revolt in the US over this stuff.
Neither walnut or pine seeds are large. They're about the size of the fingernail on your pinkie, or even smaller. But we have no shortage of forests in North America, or well really even Europe. There's been a net gain in the last 100 years by a staggering amount, and the places where you'd want forests(like parts of Africa, or South America, and Asia), no one will buy these anyway.
There was a rather big case of something similar happening up here in Ontario(Cdn) with the Crown(same as a DA) fishing for jurors. Lot of shit hit the fan, lot of Crowns went poof with the government putting new ones in charge. What really got the judge's pissed off up here, was the DA's were pressuring the police on private info on the jurors(which is allowed to a point to ensure no ties to organized crime/things that would influence them so they weren't impartial). But they were using it as a shopping list.
In Canada, the full disclosure of such things also has to be supplied to the defence, as part of the Voir Dire. The same as the chain of evidence(in one direction) Police -> Crown -> Defence.
Oil prices aren't what you should be worrying about, there is some reason but that's not the big thing. It's the basic commodity prices. Food is up nearly 70% in the last year for example, even when oil was 'stable'.
No but it(norway) would support others. An example would be the lack of freedom of expression in order to protect an individuals feelings, on a perceived issue.
Well turning/. into VSR isn't going to garner them any support from the monkeys that still work in the field and come here for occasional interesting stuff.
So what's the winning catch? A) Pike B) Carp C) Nigerian Scammer, pretending to be the ex-wife of a deceased multi-billionaire -- complete with news story. D) All of the above.
That's odd. I live in a society where the right to privacy is protected. Meaning that, even with government protection from businesses and so forth, you're still somewhat responsible. In the end, if you're unwilling to look after your own privacy as a matter of course today, then I wouldn't want to hire you either.
Personally I think we should worry about rebuilding the TCP/IP stack from the ground up, instead of worrying about anything else at the moment. At least once IPv6 is in.
Well the funny thing is...we could end pretty much all issues with food and fuel within the next 5-10 years. But people wouldn't have the stomach to go to war and clean up(aka removing despots and dictatorships) africa so it could become a major agricultural exporter of grains.
Oh well I've been looking for a diesel for the last bit anyway. They're stupidly easy to convert to burn well just about anything.
What I find amazing is that it cost $200m, doesn't state prices or actual speeds. And they're actually proud of that. Did common sense go out the window? Or is the majority of people these days skipping that trait during character creation?
I live in Ontario. But you're right, in the prairies(atleast sk), the talk of the day for the last couple of years has been china and potash. In Manitoba, it's grain exports to europe, in alberta it's exports of oil/coal/other minerals like copper to everywhere. In BC it's mainly forestry, gold, and fish(like out on the east coast). Ontario in the south is mainly ahhhfuck...where's the industry at? Northern it's tourism, mining, and forestry. Quebec? Yeah well...most of that is power generation and exports of it to the US with a few other things. And of course the far north is diamonds, and gold.
If China refuses to buy potash, we can sell anywhere to anyone. That market is limitless, especially when you consider that there's a shortage of it in europe and australia right now.
Well the first part is by and far true. We don't make enemies, hell we're the first ones the world runs to when they want mediators. Probably that whole, slow to anger, stubborn, type of thing. However, unlike in the US where shit hit the fan several times, over several things. And Americans went WTF, HOLY SHIT, CHINA...what the hell are you doing?
Canadians went...eh...okay. Dead? Nope. Carry on, government to do a better job. People as a whole here don't get angry quickly, over anything. And it takes a lot to push the general public over the edge on something. Either it has to have dire ramifications and is so fucked up for everyone(UBB is a fine example), or a lot of people have to die because of government stupidity(air india). People are getting pissed off at China here, it's taken a lot of really hard work to get people here angry. And that's saying something.
Canada's largest export partner is the US, the second is Europe(all). All of Asia combined ranks 3rd, but we still export more materials to Japan and India than China. Unless you're counting either coal, or nickle. Really if you eliminate Canadian resources? The world goes for a shit spin, mighty fast because ~30-35% of the market just went poof.
Really though? If China pulls shit and we take our ball and go home, not much will happen in Canada. We have other markets(south america, and russia--along with various others not mentioned) which we can continue to supply goods to. It will hurt china more, than it will hurt us.
I guess I'm not social. Just hate everyone, and everything. Especially everything related to facebook, which of course means that I need to now make an account, just to tell them how much I hate them.

Yeah good plan!

It's hipster trash. Why am I not surprised at crap like this.
But...but...
Reality she's a harsh mistress. I don't like harsh...
I dunno. But I find management that makes 3 times as much as the 'rank and file' because they're management rather distasteful.

Because in some societies, even public information is still considered private as a matter of course. Making you liable for anything that happens.

That's a problem? Seems like a selling feature to me.
NHL/OHL did that no one would bat an eye, we'd all just go watch more minor/junior/senior league games like we do now.
