Going by the court filing Google engaged in systemic oppression against groups of people, particularly white males, and males in general. There's also a whole laundry list of shit out of the filing including giving monetary bonuses to employees who publicly argued against Damore. A google SRE director arguing to censor speech of particular groups of people. The operation of a internal blacklist against employees hindering advancement. Arguing that by engaging in racism against whites, they're encouraging diversity. Using company resources to fund, recruit, and push people into joining ANTIFA and creating blacklists of people who refused to play along. HR arguing that we should fire people based on accusations, not proof.
Regardless of what you think of his views, there is no denying that it made his job impossible because any judgement he made subsequently would be questioned in the light of those comments.
So you've just said that his view point has merit. And that google was hiring people not based on their ability, but giving them handouts to bolster their public image. In other words, he broke the "golden rule" of corporate culture, don't rock the boat. He rocked the boat, and made other people realize and/or think that other people may or have been pushed up the ladder based on non-skills. His entire view argued against that and offered solutions on how to get the best people.
Also, "conservative views" are not a protected class.
Political views *are* a protected class in California where he was employed.
You're arguing for Lamarckian evolution, to support evolutionary psychology.
No I'm not. But you're damn well ignorant enough to think they know what they're talking about by hitting wikipedia.
Well, okay, then. I can see we're going to get nowhere. I guess we'll meet again in the next space thread, when you're arguing that the Earth is flat. HAND.
So far the only person who's decided to dive head first into conspiracy theories is you. Don't let your intellectual cowardice hurt you too much.
What about a phone that only provides communications on a radio protocol that is going obsolete and would cost the carrier (and the customer) much more to support it? (In Canada, CDMA service ended on May 31st - would it have been so bad for customers to get new product before the shut off date?)
Most cell providers offered low-cost phones as replacements, or even free replacements for low-income individuals. Wind was doing that 6mo ago, Bell has had an "upgrade in place" plan for a few years.
On the other hand, my parents have a 2013 Terrain which was hit with the CDMA upgrade, GM sold millions of vehicles with technology that was being phased out. Then there's cases like Samsung that directly designed their refrigerators to fail after a particular period of time. There's multiple class action lawsuits in the US and Canada over that one.
Nearly all pain killers effect testosterone levels to some degree, everything from ibuprofen to naproxen to tramadol, and mixes like acetaminophen/oxy, acetaminophen/tramadol, etc. The urologist I go to tells patients to avoid lyrica and won't prescribe it for example, since he saw large drops in testosterone in the blood. It was a go to medication a few years ago for boys who had testicular torsion, since it did a great job of dulling the nerves from the swollen testicle. I'm sure you can see the problems of lowering testosterone in boys in puberty and all that. Having had that ~30 years ago now, it ranks right there as an 11/10 for pain, I can't even describe it beyond it being so painful the world was a gigantic hallucination with a dream-haze effect. And the pain is with you for a long time, roughly 3 years in my case and that was considered "normal" in cases where the teste is saved.
No, that'd be a work of science. Evolutionary psychologists look at modern behaviors, and then conclude, without any actual evidence or testing, that they must be that way because of what some pre-historical person did. It's ironic that you reference Darwin, when you're really relying on Lamarck.
Funny, that is the work of science. Guess you're doing a good job of showing your selection bias in action.
40C in a desert really isn't uncommon. And most of Australia *is* classified as a desert, or highland tropical along the coast. AKA they get really hot, and sometimes really hot and humid. On the other hand it was -49C where my sister lives. That area is considered humid continental. It only hit -29C where I live, in the same classification zone, we've also had summers where the temperature hit 39C, then the humidity was added on top of that making it feel more like that was a humidex of 60C(150F). Seriously, don't live near the great lakes or you too can experience those extremes of weather.
But why don't they do burn offs? It's one of the regular maintenance things done round me.
NIMBYism and environmental nuts. Same reasons why we don't have controlled burns of trees infested with pinewood beetles. Fire is about the only thing that will kill them, and it kills them very well and at their most damaging phase. Some trees that survive the burnoffs will even rebound when the beetles stop doing damage.
Those are the people you buy crystals from in the mall, right?
No, these are the people who have multiple doctorates in two or more fields, and are considered some of the "best" in their fields. Or to make it simple for you: They're the people who spend their lives understanding "how" a person becomes that person. Whether through social, biological, gender, or hundreds of other factors. But I'm sure that you also believe "the origins of species" is blasphemy, so really it's just your own ignorance and stupidity on display.
Then you end up with a company full of white male sex offenders. I say we allow it; if they're all working there, they're not intermixing with the general population and other, more same companies are better off for it.
You've never worked a day in your life, in a female dominated office have you? The shit that men say is tame, sexual harassment against men is rampant as well. Here's an example: When was the last time you head a group of guys standing around talking about how best to knock a women up, so she can get married and have an easy-train to alimony. I head the exact opposite from women, and worse. Everything from lying to be on BC, to stop taking it, to putting holes in condoms, to digging through the trash after sex for one. If you really want to hear about my own personal experiences ranging from both a fortune 500 company and in government offices? Reply, I'll be happy to give you examples.
The problem is for men, there's no real recourse except to put up with it. If HR hates you for bringing it up, they will schedule you in with the person harassing you, if they really hate you, they'll put you both in, early, before everyone else shows up, or make you stay late. Just like there are no real domestic violence shelters for men, and there's a big need for them. The fact that feminists who claim it's all about equality fight so hard against having male DV shelters should tell you exactly what type of equality they're fighting for.
And that means he's a terrible engineer, since he doesn't understand that "if X, then Y" doesn't also mean "Y, therefore X." That alone would be reason to fire him, because you sure as fark can't trust his code.
This is the part where you're wrong. He understood those hypothesis correctly, even evolutionary psychology professors who's work is directly in that field that he got the core of the idea correct among other facts. His belief is generally correct, that his evolutionary factors were effectively correct as well.
In other words, he was an engineer who saw something applied what he saw in his field, put it together, surprised a bunch of neurologists, and psychologists in "getting it pretty much right" and were just as astounded when google fired him for being right. Welcome to the absolute shitshow of the left, and hiring based on not ability, not skill, but with something you can make up, or are born with. Do you not understand why libertarians are abandoning any ties with the left, and saying "fuck it" and going right? And the left's response is "IT'S NOT US, IT'S U!"
It's not. You get it, I get it, most/. users get it. Average millennial braindead idiot that's pumping out clickbait? Doesn't get it. But it sure sounds shit hot in the media and drives those clicks doesn't it?
It's the same as hacker, cracker, and phreaker. Only us old people know the difference, to younger kids it's all hacker.
Anything that's roku "premier"(basically the $59/69 version in the US/Canada or higher has an ethernet port. Transcoding ability is determined by the amount of CPU power to do it, the machine I'm using as a file server(Windows Server 2012r2) is a lowly Intel E5300(almost a decade old now) with 4GB of memory and it doesn't struggle along with 2 streams at once, didn't even have problems with three streams. That was to two separate roku boxes(one in HD, the other in SD) and a cellphone. I suppose it really comes down to what you want doesn't it? For them, this works perfectly fine.
My beefs are with the internal player - needs to support more filetypes - Roku really needs to open that up
What filetypes doesn't it support that you really need? I just finished building a file server with PLEX for my parents, so they could load all of their favorite TV shows and movies onto it. The 1st generation roku's had serious problems with large file sizes, various problems with mkv and so on. The newest versions don't even hiccup at 20GB single files, and plex has no issues with it either.
Trump won because of the lousy electoral collage system which is about 100 years obsolete.
How about you go to a country that doesn't have an electoral college, and see how it works. Like here, in Canada. Then you can enjoy the benefits of a leader who has no care whatsoever of anyone except the major cities which keep them in power. Ever wonder why Canada has had multiple sovereignty referendums, or why western canada absolutely hates ottawa?
No argument on critique of authoritarianism, regardless of location no political spectrum. We're in agreement here. It does not however detract from the point I made that authoritarianism exists on both edges of political spectrum, and both are in fact capable of reaching power.
Sure does. But that doesn't put "national socialists" into the right, especially when the difference between them and a communist is the method of the boot. You also seem to have problems realizing that the left has institutional power in many countries right now, and are pushing laws that are anti-free speech. Germany, France, Canada, UK, Scotland, Sweden. All of those countries that are implementing various "hate speech" laws or other laws to restrict speech are left wing. The right has it's own brand of authoritarianism, that's fascism, identitarianism, a couple of others.
There are extremists and nutcases on both sides. At the federal level, only the right elects them.
Sure does explain Venezuela, or the current state of Germany pushing "hate speech" laws. Or France wanting to do the same...yes those governments are all *very* right-wing.
Typical path to this is sophistry, as you do above.
You could have saved yourself time and said "I have no coherent argument." If you did, you wouldn't be trying to hand wave what I stated away. It would also mean, that you'd have to admit to being wrong in part or some.
Do you have a better example than a teacher's assistant at a small Canadian university who was apologized to already?
Sure. How about donglegate? Remember the guy with the bowling shirt? Remember the media attacking Tim Hunt? Yeah and his wife. The attacks on Nicholas Alexander Christakis for daring to tell students to grow the fuck up over halloween costums. Not good enough? George "All I want for Christmas is white genocide" Ciccariello-Maher. Not good enough? Preston "All whites are racist" Mitchum. Not good enough? Jordan Peterson who the left classifies as "racist, sexist, transphobic, neo-nazi, nazi, etc" for refusing to bow to "gendered pronouns" and speaking against bill C-16. Not good enough? The absolute shitshow against Bret Weinstein, including the radical leftist students taking the university president hostage. Not good enough? Melissa "I need some muscle over here" Click and assaulting that same student. Not good enough? The university professors at Berkeley who came out in defense of the students rioting against Milo Yanoppolis. Not good enough? Michael Bonesteel who was hounded, doxed, and assaulted for refusing to give "trigger warnings" to students in an art class. And that's not even 1/10th of the cases in the last 5 years.
"He's better than Kim Jong Un" is such a bad defense that it could only be used for Trump...
Well your other option was "Can we drone this guy?" - Hillary Clinton, on the implication that she wanted to blow up the Ecuadorian Embassy, in the UK to kill one person who was making her look bad. That actually makes her just as bad as him, Trump on the other hand? Right...
Yeah, that basically makes most politicians better then Kim Jong Un. I realize this is an awfully low bar in the first place, but let's try to keep the stupid to a bare minimum.
If you think a "cartoon frog" is such a big symbol of something, all you're doing is showing just how partisan you are and how much you absolutely have to believe the talking points that were presented to you. Because if you question it, then you're no longer part of the club are you?
Which is more valuable to guy selling crap, media that informs people or media that manipulates people ?
In a democracy, and republic the first. The latter when there are state interests. Remember on "Morning Joe" when Mia came out saying that the media's job is to tell people what to believe? People can already see that the media is manipulating people, what's funny are just how hard some groups of people are holding onto the media "being true."
They will usually say that the only extremists exist on the opposite side of the spectrum, and start suggesting that the extremists on their side are actually on the opposite side. Typical path to this is sophistry, as you do above.
You want to know how to tell someone doesn't understand what's written? When they make shit up because they're reading into something. At no point did I say that extremists are only on one side. The fact that you're engaging in your own sophistry is damn hilarious though. The number of people who "fall into the right" and "are nazis" is so narrow you that it could fit at the tip of a pen. If you don't understand the differences between ethnocentrism, ethnostatism, and so on, you look like an idiot to everyone who does. FYI: The #2 in the DNC is an ethnostatist, and you should be weeping that he was elected.
