Good point. That's why many of these successful writers are generally devoid of any real creative talent and simply write to a formula. So much current writing seems to have very little individual writing style so that much of the current successful 'literature' could really be written by any other of the writer's contemporaries. Writing is not just about the plot and how it is unfolded.
Tried Reading the first one. Couldn't get past the first few pages. Horrible stuff in my opinion. I thought the TV adaptation might appeal to me a little more and watched the first episode. More horrible stuff. Just not my kind of thing. Just not convincing at all.
Disaster zones over North Dakota and Alabama? What disasters have there been there? If these are the only locations they admit to spying on what have they been doing elsewhere? NY, LA, DC etc. where the meat of their obscene and unforgivable scandal mongering is hatched?
But I was never offered a contract. But then again I never sought one! From very early in my music 'career' if I can call it that, I wanted to have complete creative freedom and never expected to make any money. Well, these days I do make just a little money (thanks to the internet) and can still do whatever I want musically. This is still gratifying and fulfilling for me but others might have given up in the same situation. It is all a matter of what you want from it. So I don't make a living from it. But I get fulfillment and perhaps more importantly I have met a number of really good people over the years through my creative efforts. Can't beat that! Frankly, I'm not convinced that is a woman's voice. Sounds like a man putting on a 'woman's voice'. They probably stopped turning the cylinder shortly before Edison's work crew started rolling around the floor laughing. They found that sort of thing funny back then. Being all manly an all of that...
Doing it wrong. There is no benefit in doing it 'in the hardest gear'. It is really bad for your knees and is more likely to strain muscles than to properly exercise them. The gears are there to allow you to maximize your energy efficiency.
