    Well, It' very good idea to have KDE without Akonadi and Nepomuk. Only this can make KDE lightweight. :)) That are the parts I always turn off and I'd love to get rid of entirely. MySQL is another piece of shit that must be cleaned out. If some developer needs "select my,shit from config where other=shit and blahbalbal" to read simple app config, then it's clinic. I used Kmail for years and when it started to use mysql and Akonady I switched to Thinderbird because I do not need all this smartass stuff done by e-mail client in background. So, there's a lot of stuff to simplify in KDE.
    But "Less tuning" sounds as not good idea because users love KDE of it's flexibility.

    Consumer have the right to buy what he wants to buy. I want "clean", standard-complaint hardware without any crap from Microsoft. It should be optional. If some customer wants it, he/she pays and gets it. If I do not want it because I'm not going to use it, I have right to buy product without the crap. Forcing me to pay for things I do not want to by and do not want to use is CRIME. So, Microsoft is pushing vendors and resellers to commit CRIME.

    Well, you are :) But how you can be so sure about things they can do and can not do with your computer? Can you read source code of entire shit that installed on? Do you use crystal ball?

    OK, forget my paranoia. Microsoft and Apple are very good people, the can not do such shit to you. What about malware authors? Are you sure your Windows computer is not infected?

    Insanity sometimes is near to genius... But stupidity never. :)

    Theoretically they can do anything they want with your device remotely. But they just do not use this "feature" at the moment :) You're still insist that you own your device? Well, may be RMS, other GPL-centric people and I are insane, but you own only a piece of silicon and plastic. :)

    PS. Yes, I remember that BSD is irrelevant, according to Mr. Poeterring. That's why I'm going to throw away all RedHat's stuff from my computers at home and at work until it's too late and replace it by FreeBSD and OpenBSD. Hope, BSD community is sane enough to keep guys like this one as far as possible.

    Regarding BSDs. It will never be "popular". It has academic model of development and strong user community. This is like classical music and pop music. Classical music is dying last 100 years.

    Guys, you may say anything defending Microsoft and OEMs on that idiotic practice to sell hardware with crapware. But say me, what I must do if I do need it all really? Why I should pay for stupidity of others?!! It's almost impossible here in Ukraine to get refund from any vendor. And I can not buy good notebook without Windows 7 I'm not going to use at all. Why I should just give 200 bucks to Microsoft for nothing?!!

    Everyone with his head on shoulders knows that Microsoft rapes every OEM and forces them to install widooze, not linux. Remember ASUS story with EEE PC? That's simply the dirty way to keep monopoly. Nothing more.

    And if you such a stupid oxymoron that needs windooze preinstalled, I'm sure you can not tell the difference if you get KDE4 with linux and OpenOffice instead of widooze!

    And yes, they(OEMs) MAY sell windooze software pack separately in separate box with separate price. They already do that by supplying "rescue" disk.

    One should be just an stupid brain-dead idiot not be able to put DVD in drive or flash in USB and power up notebook to start fully automatic install of that crapware.

    I really do not care about authors desktop, where Linux is dead. On my desktop, on my notebook, on my pocket PC Linux is pretty alive and serving all my needs. The same with a lot of my friends and colleagues. :)

    Every paid internet box in every hotel is under Linux, and nobody cares.

    Windows is alive but only by inertia, momentum of market and inertia of people's thinking. 2'nd and
    even first fluxion of Windows usage is negative.
