I would guess because 1) It took them time to test the fix. 2) They would prefer not to require software updates unless they have to as there is always the "chance" of problems.
Carriers should make you opt in to be tracked. I believe most Canadian cell carriers send you a text message requiring you to accept being tracked. Then when someone tries to track you you would also get a text message. If your company was tracking you, at least you would know it was happening and give you time to think of a good excuse.;-)
Just to create a blank database, Oracle defaults to 1 GB+. With the inefficiencies of the Oracle db, that does not exactly give me much room to play with. At least IBM is not going to have a limit.
Also, I definitely recommend people look at things that have been taken out of these "free" databases. For example online backup is one common thing that gets removed.
I have been waiting for a good Slashdot story on energy as I recently found a very interesting site http://www.lifeaftertheoilcrash.net/ which talks about a subject called Peak Oil, our reliance on oil and how technologies like this will not easily remove our reliance on oil. I would love to hear other/. comments on this.
To me, something like this Fusion reactor sound promising, but there are still so many industries that are reliant on oil, it can be somewhat scary.
Man, would everyone stop saying it is free. Just because you don't have to pay for the software doesn't mean that you won't pay for support or for the commercial license if you need to hide your source code.
I don't really understand why everyone is getting so upset about this. Do you really think the US government will allow anything to happen to RIM? What is it that one high level government official said? Something like: "You can pry it out of my cold dead hands".
It is interesting to note that the security Gates has here in Waterloo is far greater than that of the Canadian prime minister who visited the day before.
People already add implants? What about heart implants? Nobody ever seems to question those. I mean the heart is just as important as the brain. It just seems that people would have more of a problem if it might affect their brains.
There is good reason why the email client in Windows Mobile 5.0 will not kill off the BlackBerry. RIM has done a great job taking advantage of the network infrastructure. Now if they could just make a device with enough power to run a real application this thing could really take off.
I have used refill kits in the past and although they are cheap I find they tend to mess up your printer heads. I have lost two printers in the past to these refills. Now, I just use new cartridges.
I would be interested to hear what the benefits are to me for doing this? From the FAQ it indicates that it will not change my Page Rank. Now, I know the page rank does not really mean much to my overall raking in Google results. However, if I go through the effort of creating and updating this whenever my site changes, how will it benefit me?
Ladies and gentlemen of the supposed jury, I have one final thing I want you to consider: (pulling down a diagram of Chewie) this is Chewbacca. Chewbacca is a Wookiee from the planet Kashyyyk, but Chewbacca lives on the planet Endor. Now, think about that. That does not make sense! (jury looks shocked)
Why would a Wookiee -- an eight foot tall Wookiee -- want to live on Endor with a bunch of two foot tall Ewoks? That does not make sense!
But more importantly, you have to ask yourself: what does that have to do with life on other planets? (calmly) Nothing. Ladies and gentlemen, it has nothing to do with this life on other planets! It does not make sense!
Look at me, I'm a lawyer arguing about life on other planets, and I'm talkin' about Chewbacca. Does that make sense? Ladies and gentlemen, I am not making any sense. None of this makes sense.
And so you have to remember, when you're in that jury room deliberating and conjugating the Emancipation Proclamation... does it make sense? No! Ladies and gentlemen of this supposed jury, it does not make sense.
If Chewbacca lives on Endor, you must say life exists on other planets! The defense rests.

Interesting, although I do not see how they could do that based on the fact that it is is the carriers that have to send the information.

Eventually, we may all live in wi-fi enabled areas, with constant free internet access.
You mean like we have constant cellular access? Come on, how long have they been doing cellular and we still can not get constant cellular access.

This Quantum laptop will let me see every porn pic on the net simultaneously, right?
"Pull my finger"
Maybe we should boycott all of the carriers that purchase Visto software until they agree to smarten up!
Won't somebody please put a stop to these NTP vultures!

"Just think of what the Professor could have done with these cans!"
Ginger's or Mary-Anne's?
I think that is from all the ratings they have got in the last day (between Digg and Slashdot).
It is interesting to note that the security Gates has here in Waterloo is far greater than that of the Canadian prime minister who visited the day before.
I assume they would have to turn these off during takeoff just like I have do with my IPOD. ;-)
If I download these sounds will the record companies try to sue me?
Isn't the solution to simply turn that stuff off when you are required to be creative?

The big ones for me are:
- no big heads in front of me to block my view
- nothing beats kicking back in the ol' Lazy-Boy

Ha, I first read this as "Researchers Control the Flip of Election Spin". I thought back to John Kerry and thought, hmmm, not a bad idea.
