new captcha at google, big deal, not news. just google. happens every day. bots hit my site all the time, and haven't cracked mine (yet). when they do, will it be news? no.
You should try to tell that to somebody from middle or upper management... "I'm the bloody CEO and I want to see that data live... you are the one who will do it or you will be replaced with someone that will"....and if you manages to give him what he wants the next wish will be "I want to be able to..."
* adjust the parameters
* use the data live in my Excel
* present the data on our homepage
airspeed, location on a map, altitude, calculated ETA and fuel consumption - you can do ALL of that stuff with a cheap usb GPS thingy plugged into the customer network. what's so difficult out that?
the lesson here is: don't create the evidence in the first place. disable the server log. why is that so hard?
i know we're talking about an organization and not an individual here, but is there really anything morally wrong with destroying evidence to cover your ass? self-preservation trumps law.
Wikipedia is probably the most successful collaborative effort on the internet, surpassing the Linux kernel in size and complexity. Its editors and authors do a lot of great work, putting data out there and generally being fair and balanced.
oh no. fortunately, not every jackass with a patch has commit access to the linux kernel. your comparison is invalid.
qmail is still by far the best alternative to sendmail. it's just not meant for use by idiots, or people who can't RTFM. those people should continue using postfix.
how about we give them a "gift certificate" instead, entitling the bearer to:
1 (one) free US-led invasion of the nation of their choice. the US will occupy said nation for up to 4 months or until 100 billion has been spent, whichever comes first. If the bearer so desires, the US will track down, pull from a spider hole, and try said nation's leader in a kangaroo court, and his/her subsequent execution will constitute fulfillment of this offer regardless of the occupation time elapsed.
bingo! i've been wondering if anyone else figured that out...

i'd just *love* to see this backfire, and end up being used to disable police cars.
now that could be a winning situation for everyone!

someone below said not to lump all the greens together. there are *many* shades.
what you're really asking for is the country to be dotted with great big radioactive targets for people to fly airliners into. fun.
command shift u, click on Terminal.app. oh, wait...
Now imagine in 10 years that 4/5ths of the worlds population thinks that Google is the internet. Everything else will cease to be relevant.
something like 40% of the world doesn't even have access to clean water. you think google could take care of that first?
