When the discussion is specifically about what this man has done for the copyright industries, mentioning his leading role in the Grokster and Youtube cases is far more important than what he's done for some beer company. It's not an omission that I do not mention he's no longer involved, as it's not relevant -- we're talking about what he has done. As for Viacom v. Google, copyright cases don't get much more high-profile than this.
I'm not questioning if he's experienced or not. I'm just pointing out that OP got his facts a bit wrong (apparently, he just got everything from Wikipedia, which fails to mention what I said above).
Anyway, considering all the furore surrounding copyright as of late, the least Obama could do to show he's not scoffing in one side's faces is not to appoint ALL the industry's lawyers/lobbyists in high positions in his administration!
He led the case against Grokster, and according to Wired he also led the Viacom vs. YouTube case! While I'm sure his career extends to other things as well, those are two of the largest copyright cases of recent years.
FFS, if he's no good then don't vote for him. If the other celebrity politician is no good, don't vote for them either. Vote for someone else! As long as everyone keeps voting for the same shite politicians, you get the same shite politicians. Is that so hard to understand?
And, as for the argument "But if I don't vote for D, then R may get in office", it's totally moronic and possibly something they invented to narrow down their chances to 50%. Other parties are running for office. People better start paying attention to them, because you can still vote for someone new!
They can. The "minor shitstorm" you remember involved over 500k chipped consoles being banned and bricked (by some estimates, over 1m). Class action lawsuits ensued, but went nowhere. Some people complained about the EULA, but it didn't make much difference.
You are wrong. The DMCA anti-circumvention clause prohibits you from breaking the DRM on your console, even if it's to play uncertified/homebrew games. You bought the hardware and are free to use it as paperweight, but you are expressly prohibited from modifying it or running software that Microsoft doesn't like. In fact, should you modify your console, Microsoft are even legally allowed to use a remote killswitch to brick your device (long story short, by agreeing to the EULA you no longer own the device you bought).
Are you telling me to respect the laws of countries where women get raped and it's their fault so they get killed as a result? In the UK, we live by British morals and British justice, and any stupid Swedish laws about unprotected sex between consenting adults being considered rape don't amount to much. With that said, I will fight Assange's extradition like I would fight the extradition of a woman from an insane Islamic country who came to the UK looking for sanctuary from her murdering husband.
I used the word "all" for the sake of brevity, at the expense of accuracy. I don't regret that decision. Pick nics if you must; the essence of the summary remains the same.
TFA sort of implies this "feature" will be optional and users will be able to "set it up" if they want to. I surely hope so, because otherwise this could be a huge deal-breaker for me.
Not to mention that Scifi is an extremely expensive genre to produce -- it can cost over $1m per episode. With this economy, people are probably investing in lower-risk shows like sitcoms and such.

Prove a negative?
Error of omission, as already pointed out.

People's privacy only has low value because people forget to cherish it: it's become available in infinite supply, so its value is approaching zero.
Because.
y u no post in idle?

First sale? Won't be there for much longer. Really, between Vernor v. Autodesk and Omega v. Costco there isn't much left.
To all five Swedish speakers on Slashdot, I haven't seen the document.
Indeed!

It's singe, you baboon.
This happened several days ago. The Guardian has the story here: http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2010/dec/17/julian-assange-sweden I think The Times also had a story. No point looking for the original document -- it was in Swedish.
I looked for more sources, but I couldn't find more useful info. Cheers for the link (and I'm a bit relieved, tbh).

Even Oceania had DIY fans. Thinkpol was really happy to see that.

Let me remind you that with a sample of over 110k purchases, the large outliers become statistically insignificant.
For example, if there are 10 * $500 and 5000 * $0.10, the average value is 5500 / 5010 = $1.01.
Humble Indie Bundle 2 is up now. Linux users consistently pay more than Windows users for the games -- more than twice as much, in fact.
It's already tagged as such.
