You make a good point. I shudder to think of it's implications and all the stories that nobody hears.
There seems to be a corporate attitude that the "customer" is the enemy attempting to steal profits the company rightly deserves. The support industry is a for profit enterprise and it is run on amazingly narrow margins (hence all the outsourcing). Every ticket, every complaint, and every second of work is a second of profit lost.
This is absolutely true. With some families having only two or three kids and occasionally only one male. There are just not as many "qualified" people to inhe....run a business.
I mean honestly isn't this a little sad? OTOH maybe he is just trying to placate shareholders. MS is ubiquitous in the workplace and I'm sure that represents a fair amount of money. Once you've achieved world domination, what more is there?
I say, let the yuppies play with this little do-dad over the weekend. You know Monday morning they're coming back home to momma.
Seems like the same old story to me: Apple is a music store and Microsoft sells hardware.
Apple stood if full support of the new bill, stating that they have been ahead of the game on this one. Even going so far as to sacrifice minute usability for the health of all their customers and the world as a whole.
I have trouble even comprehending "record and retain all citizens' communications traffic." To think that someone would tolerate a government spying on web traffic, I mean it's not like we're talking about cell phones here.
Agreed, there is no way he was acting on his own on this one.
In other news, The United States has been removed from the world trade empire and branded rebels.
Why does it look like the case is alligator skin? I'm not sure, but don't they give a shit about things like that? Aside from that little oversight, this could be the last nail in the American-technology coffin.
Homeland Security will be an ever increasing beast. I'm already surprised at everything that falls under their authority.
OTOH...This is not really something new for us. Who knows maybe they get funding from the "War on Drugs," the American public's interest is waning and the jailed population is going up. Maybe chasing down bloggers will keep us out of ground wars.
A lot more than this would have to happen for us to stop cowering.
I bet a Dell laptop is the equivalent of an excellent severance package.

The science behind that ones coming next. Is there really science behind Caddyshack? Or did you just say that because you saw Caddyshack?

I can find no problem with this. We've utilized this line of thought for thirty years with absolutely no ill consequences.
