Of course, some might not ship it until the release date, so you have to wait a few days for it to show up(or not, depending on the shipping option). You still have to wait, but it will be shipped and because it was in stock instead of on back order.
Or Gamestop might have screwed up and didn't have any copies of NWN in the massive effing warehouse 20 miles from here, and had to ship me it from Togo (why else would it take that long?). I had to wait 2 weeks for it after it came out, knowing I could go to the store and pick it up immediately. Never again, Gamestop. Never again.
I loved the Indecision 2000 coverage. But this time it's more mean-spirited. Last time you could be either of the major parties and have fun, but this time it seems to be aimed more for the Democrats.
It's not fun to watch anymore, so I don't. (And no, I don't watch O'Reilly either)
$20 the DVD, but also $24 for a pair of tickets, $8 for parking, and $12 for popcorn & drinks
Wow. That's gotta suck. I spend: 2 tickets @ 6 = 12 + 1 large combo @6=6 = $18
And most movies aren't worth renting, much less buying, the DVD for. I've seen about a dozen movies this year. The only ones I'm interested in the DVD for are Sky Captain and maybe Riddick.
In order to truly compete in an overwhelming apple market, they needed to
Yes, but the fight has been between the consumer electronics division and the content division. Which makes more money. A lot more. That's why they haven't until now.
My suspicion is the only reason they've gone towards mp3s now is that they risk losing mindshare among teens, and Sony hardware will be viewed as antiquated and not worth getting... and the Sony name (aside from in the front of movies or CDs) will become a thing of the past.
Think Indiana Jones, but on an even bigger scale. Globetrotting around the world, giant robots, flying aircraft carriers, underwater planes, etc. Yes, you need to turn off your sense of disbelief, but it was an absolute blast. Ebert said it best, it went from Conrad's mind to film without reality intervening. A glorious film about an alternate reality we should've had.
And you just proved his point. Look at dumping. Illegal, and for good reason. The problem is that countries like Japan will give money to firms that dump, since it helps create a bigger company. However, it doesn't produce a more efficient or better market. The counter-argument, though, is that government is rarely able to encourage efficient markets.
That would be lovely to have. While there are some open source alternatives (OhPhoneX and Gnomemeeting-via-Fink), it would be damn handy to have iChat talk to H323 clients, especially since modern H.323 Endpoints use the same codecs (H263, H264) as iChat.
IMHO, it was an iffy move until USB thumbdrives came out, because there wasn't a clear substitute (floppies were pennies, CD-Rs were dollars). Before that you could sort of justify it - if you had a modem and internet access, you could email anything under a meg in about 5 minutes, and above 1 meg wouldn't fit anyhow. But now, with thumbdrives, there's _almost_ no excuse. Everyone has some sort of internet access for a one-off thing, but thumbdrives are nice... I just wish mine fit better on my keychain.
This'll probably get modded down, but consider that there are more than 2 points of view. Now, you may feel that the left is being underrepresented and all the media is pro-Bush - but the Free Republic people feel otherwise, and will show you the other side. Even if you don't like it, it's interesting to see what kind of stories are out there.
For work I use Firefox. But on my home machine I use Mozilla, since I actually like having browsing and mail handy. But several of these that I tried to install said "no install script found". What gives?
whether HDNet is using, or plans to use, the broadcast flag to prevent taping of content? (Sounds like a "no", since he talks about moving it to a keychain, but I'm curious if the message matches his actions)
Why is he owned if he uses 98? My impression has been that 98 is _safer_ - WinNT/2k/XP all have all these fun services that can be exploited, where 98 doesn't. Granted, if you run IE or the like all bets are off.
Or is there something I'm missing?
So, will they take the winning app and block it?

I can see it now - something like the GoogleMail FS comes out of it, only to get blocked like the notifiers are.
How tough is this to do? Pretty much everyone owns one of those mystical recording devices known as a VCR. You tape it, then watch it at night instead of whatever they're showing. Oh, and you can then fast-forward through the commercials. I have a cable box, and I can change channels to tape lots of stuff. The DVR I'm using is just an added bonus, so I can watch stuff 2 days old in the living room.
The audiences aren't getting screwed. More people are interested in certain sports, so more viewers, and more money to be made by catering to that. Welcome to captialism. If people watched rowing and bitched about it not being on primetime, it would move.
The only way the US audience is getting screwed is by not being able to watch whatever they want via the internet. (Hell, go sue SBC for me... they keep running these ads which have a kid watching competitions on his laptop, when you CAN'T)
I know I would've ponied up $50 so that my wife could watch every single women's gymnastics competition and every competitor. Heck, I would've done it for all those wacky sports I never get to see... last Olympics I became a curling fan. This time, Whitewater and Doubles Badminton.
I cannot imagine how much more you'd bitch if all they were showing was the prime-time coverage.
I like the nice use of English-to-English translation... they simultaneously talk in English, with a subtitle in ENGLISH! Good way to keep those ADD-potential-users interested.
Yes. I responded. And got fed up with the blowhards (yes, on both sides, but mostly the ACs), and now don't want this crap anymore
I'm logged in, and have told it (in preferences) to skip Politics stories. But I still get them. Any ideas, anyone?
The critical mass has to come from the PC,
Yup. Just like USB. Oh, wait...
I know... it's not like Clinton lied under oath or... oh, wait. That would be (a) lying, and (b) perjury. Not the same at all. Clinton's forgiven.
If only I had the P.J. O'Rourke quote from Clinton about how he believed there to be WMDs in Iraq as well...
Thanks - didn't realize it included the jokes and percentages. Interesting reading.
Daily show primarily makes fun of assholes and idiots
No, otherwise you'd be mentioned. There's plenty of idiots on both sides.

Bitter? Okay, a bit...

Agreed, since he says that it's just "different optimization flags".

They don't need to. It's fantasy, remember? It looks cool.

Actually, done on a Mac.
I wonder if that's why Gwynneth's child is named Apple.
The modification was then "leaked" to Mambo.
Not entirely accurate. According to the guy who wrote the code, he just wrote a different implementation of the idea, and gave that to Mambo.
