Just an FYI, runlevel 5 by default, does not kick off Gnome or any other window manager under RHEL. It starts GDM or KDM which is simply the login manager for launching your selected window manager. It does not tax the machine very much to simply run the login manager. Now if you were in fact launching KDE 4 or Gnome then yes that would be an undesirable load on the system.
Thanks for a useful quote and I'm ridiculous... Though it has no relevance to the subject. We've known about the ipv6 push for years now, and major Operating Systems have supported it. We know ipv6 works... because people are actively using it now, I'm one of them. google over ipv6 already works, and has been working for some time. Its time for the rest of the major websites to catch up. One day is not going to prove a lot.
I dont understand why they wouldnt just make this change permanent. If this is the protocol we're going to, make it stick. One day is just toying with us.
I see an awful lot of complaints regarding rereleasing Star Wars in a new format.
This is incredibly common. Its not like George Lucas is the only person releasing their movie again in a new format.
It says what he's been up to in the article...
"If you're unfamiliar with Robert Love, let's just say he's been active in contributing to the Linux kernel for fifteen years and he's currently at Google and was part of the Android team."
Coming up next... our monthly reminder of ipv4's demise.
How many stories can you guys come up with that basically dance around the same issue?
We know its happening, now we're just waiting for everyone to catch up and get compliant.
Not very surprising. Of course Microsoft would say Blu Ray is dead. They also thought their HD-DVD format would succeed. They can just continue their trend of being incorrect.
The movie aisle in any major department store would support the everlasting life of hard copy media.
I don't see why they would not want to make their OS more readily available by allowing other hardware vendors to sell their OS. This makes good business sense.
It seems like every week we get an article about how something changed with the Chinese firewall and something broke. I would strongly consider moving if I had to deal with this as often as they do. Stop screwing the with firewall of the country!
I've been a sysadmin for a while time now, and I've never had one person wish me a happy admin day.
It would seem the only people who know about this, happen to be sysadmins. No one has a clue when I mention it. We need more sysadmin day advertising.
Someone want to fund a commercial? Lets add it to every calendar world wide. Who's with me?
This puts a lot of new users to perl in a bad situation. Start learning Perl 5 syntax or jump to the possibly already sinking ship, Perl 6. Hopefully my camel book will be sufficient to learn both from a basic level.
I don't know that we need any more eye candy in KDE 4. It already has a ridiculous amount of aesthetically pleasing features. How about we squash some existing bugs and add more usability features.

Actually press release link: http://www.gnome.org/press/2011/04/gnome-3-0-released-better-for-users-developers-3/
A lot.
Consideration of performing an action is news now?

They forgot one bit of relevant information. So how long did it this massive job take?

They finally get to the part I care about, which is the list of apps they tried. Look at page 9 of their paper in PDF format.

No, it does not. Check out the spec sheet. http://www.plugcomputer.org/data/docs/ionics_plug_computer_info_sheet.pdf
Easy. Mount an nfs share from another box. Bam, more storage space.
After reading the article I am rather surprised there is no wireless interface. They could have saved one more cable.

Why do I think of Sonny and Cher's, I Got You Babe, every time I hear about this movie?
The ultimate compliment is plagiarism. So what if it is the purpose of your company to fight against that very thing.

If you can't type on a keyboard without looking at it, you're doing it wrong.
I'll be happy when today is over. Its Friday!!!!

Shocking news. Microsoft exec upset by the success of a member of the competition.
