Do what I always used to (and still) do. The more they ask the less they get.
It's the old reward good behaviour ignore bad behaviour training technique.
If I'm given some homework, I may do it. If they tell me to do it, I probably won't. If they compalain that I didn't do it, I'm not doing it next time either.

1: Just because I'm a part of a Union doesn't mean that I can't act as an individual if I so choose.
2: The cost of joining a union is paid for by the union members not the non-union employees. Also in some industries non-union members get lower pay or arn't allowed to work(films comes to mind).
3: Your joining a union, it's bloddy socilist, of couse they will defend anyone against a bad employer, not just union members.
If you don't want the union to help (even though your not a member) don't ask for help.
The search results page looks a lot better though.
Why the fuck do they use a white background? I've setup blue on my PC and thats what I want, even google and/. make this monkey boy UI design flaw or did they think I pick my default BGCOLOR for a joke.
If I find some shit kicking around (docs, other peoples code or my head not quite being atached to my body) I usually prototype and write a clean(FLIW free) implementation in the main code base.
There's also the point that EVEN IF you believe that oil and farming have nothing to do with the non-existant global warming there is no excuse for greedy food and oil consumption.
Methane is several times more nasty than co2 cows cause global warming!
Well, I use TTF for no AA. on a 17 inch screen at 1024x768(about 100dpi), sure there's a bit of stepping. The fonts are often easier to read than AA fonts and I can't be bothered to drag somoene over from the other side of the office so they can see my sexy smooth font.
Ok, the menus that change thing is anoying, but, if you get used to it, it should be quite handy.
Presonally I'm far to confortable with the regular, I know what I'm getting menus. Maybe if after a few weeks of use it asked about customising and showed you a few things you were missing out on(hadn't used) they would be good.
Doesn't it (sometimes) piss you off when a save dialogue doesn't remember the last diretory you were in?
A UI that learns the setting that the user uses is more 'intelegent' than one that requires the user to initilise everything.
Are you saying that eye candy is for those who don't know that it eats CPU.
umm... Yeh, I wouldn't switch smooth (2 pots of hair wax a day) scrolling on. or AA fonts, come on, a reasonable font, good hinting and high res no need for AA I nver use it in windows.
the company (or workers) become agents of the state. Just like if you try to find out what a hackers done to your computer. You are an agent of the state and can be held for wire tapping.
The real problem is that there are just too many people (some one please kill me while I'm not looking).
in 1066 the population of the UK was a few million now it's 60million. if Feudal systems were required to control a UK population of a few million it's hardly surprising that the Government is greatly restricting the rights of 60million just to keep things stable.
SARS kills 4% please can we have a world wide epidemic, maybe nuke a few big cities or sterilise 99% of the population or anyone who's had more than one child.
Why can't they sort out the top 10 'you product is useless if it doesn't support them' bugs instead of non-standard, virus prone, windows only [unless you wine] ActiveX?
are you sure, have you checked through the source code for trojans, backdoors, spyware etc....

SFAIK you can assign meta-data to all functions etc.. in C#.
Defing some basic meta-data that should be present.
Say Author, Data, Changes / BUGS , Links to design and test documentation etc...
It should be easy to link any good configuration management software into the meta-data.

Doesn't Japan still have a cap on it's 'defence' spending.
I know it's still third world in terms of technology, but it seems a good place to start.

Processing power cheap, no way, all you need is 640k, that's what I say.
What he should be saying is re-use code and libraries to avoid bugs.
What's the differance between seeing pammy and seeing me driving a car.
pammy's got a nice pair of hooters, but I'll give you the horn EVERY TIME.
If a node came across somthing it didn't understand or was unsure about it could ask the other nodes for their opinion.

I'm sticking with konquror.
When someone buys x[a fish tank] apply function[sales tax] with input y[7%].
That's kinda metadata, more a function, but it's often hard to tell the difference between data that describes data and a function.
input y is looked up as in input for function sales tax.
list values for y have metadata that says they are possible inputs for sales tax.
sales tax has metadata that says it can be applied to a product and/or a product has metadata that says salestax can be applied to it.
It's important not to hard code because there are different tax bands and some products may have no sales tax.
