I have Cablevision and the bit-rate of their on-demand "HD" films is laughable...compression artefact galore. But most people just don't care for that extra level of clarity/detail. Being able to buy an older move on DVD for 5 bucks is also a big draw...I still buy DVDs with my Blu-Ray disks.
No need for a smart phone, but the improved audio of the Blu-Ray discs sounds great on my home theater. Same with the video seen on my HDTV. I'm willing to pay for that. Of course, I try to buy used discs whenever possible so perhaps I'm not helping the Blu-Ray cause:D
When I think of how much my friends spend keeping up with smart phone technology (including data plans) I just stick with my old voice-only flip phone and enjoy my movies. Seems more worth the money to me.
When they focus on bills they can't possibly get past the Senate and/or President, they show themselves to be either incompetent or having no intention of making real cuts.
The only Dems who lost their seats were right-leaning "blue dogs" who lucked into election in 2006. I hardly consider that a "mandate" a'la Jeff Gannon.
These Republicans were mandated to cut spending, but their absurd bills and constant injection of abortion-related riders shows that they don't seem to be taking that promise very seriously.
Meaningless blather. A group of Democrats came up with the rules, but not all Democrats supported it. It's a party, not a corporation. When you say "They never meant to pass them" you lose your credibility. Check the voting record. Only 10 Dems in the House did not support the bill. They used to call them Blue Dogs.
The plane-crashing baby killer and his pet bimbo lost. Get over it. Obama is no prize...but he was the closest to a Liberal that had a shot and he's done OK by me WRT mortgage ReFi, drawing down Iraq, not persecuting gay people, etc...
I can choose not to buy the newspaper? The newspaper isn't also killing innocent people in poorly run wars based on known-false "Evidence". The newspaper doesn't represent ME on the world stage.
Pro-USA propaganda is already planted in Iraqi news papers, this is a logical step. It's also despicable. Especially when the same government denounces these tactics when used by "the enemy".
I didn't claim that the price mattered, simply that if you shove something in someone's face long enough they are going to want it...and if they can get it free, they will.
That's human nature, and just like socialism doesn't work due to human nature, copyright protections in the digital age don't work due to human nature.
Problem is the same everywhere. Replacing the design would negate years of profits, so why not take the risk that it won't happen! Then, if things go really bad, the country as a whole gets to pay for the cleanup.
Smells like the usual "privatise the profits, socialise the risk/cost" BS we've been seeing.
Nobody is entitled to make money. Business models should not be protected by law. Copyright is being abused...it no longer creates value for society as a whole. You'll understand when you get a little older.
You should have gone into plumbing or brick-laying. Copyright has a place but the rights continue to shift towards the producers and away from consumers. It's just a little civil disobedience.
If you staked your livelihood on copyright law, well...sorry.
People no longer want content that makes legitimate users jump through hoops. And they are doing something about it.
When demand is created through advertisements found everywhere, expect people who cannot afford it to desire it and take it by whatever means they have. Can't have it both ways.
Send a better message. Tell them that they keep changing the covenant on using copyrighted goods and that we are sick of it. Making it difficult to make my legal back-ups? I'll take that out on you by accessing some of your content without payment. It's just a little give and take.
Because you don't settle your differences with boxing gloves as adults. This website seems to have a very sharp bias. Seems to be catering to our new brand of know-nothings.

I bought a $100 Sony player last year. I routinely buy older films for 10 to 15 bucks (new and used). No need to pay 30 bucks for the new release.
Prices have reached your ideal.

Actually Blue Dog seems to refer to Representatives, not Senators: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Dog_Coalition

Really? 8 hour battery life with a dual core processor? I'll have to check that out.
My ASUS eeEPC (whatever) 1005HA gets 8 hours under Ubuntu and I love it except that I wish the screen had more dots.
Plus you can make an app so they tablet looks like a prop from a sci-fi TV show or movie!
That'd be my only real reason for getting one.
I love my eeePC 1005HA. Only wish the screen had more dots. I type a bit and the touchscreens make for terrible keyboards IME.
Small piece you say? Bi-partisan committee I say. And I see you left out the membership ratios of similar committed from 1918-1944 :)
Say, you must be one of commodore64_love's sockpuppets. Hope you've got a friend in Afghanistan!
Who told you that?

So you're saying that 9/11 was just tit for tat response to the CIA's meddling in Afghanistan?
Come on man. Your argument sucks.
Did someone hack your account? You're making sense!

The Bible does record the genocide of the Canaanites at the hand of the diety-led ancient Hebrews. I believe the people of Ai also got wiped out.

Not with my taxes, please. Dishonourable shits.
This is copyright infringement.

And this is just one more reason why.
First, I'll ask for a source of your claim. Second, I didn't realize anti-nuclear protestors were so powerful all of a sudden :D

Remember when people wouldn't question the president during wartime? Yeah, we grew up.
