Well, you are getting more for your money too. The VGNSZ140 has 100GB HDD, GeforceGo 7400, and 1 GB RAM. It is also pretty nifty as you can switch to the integrated graphics to get better battery life.
But what version do you have? I am using 1.4.3 and have never found it to be buggy. There has be a huge difference from 1.0 to later versions. Regardless, Gnumeric is lots better than OO.org's Calc or Koffice's Kspreadsheet.
You choose the one function it does not support, and ignore the huge number of unique features. You also ignore the fact that Excel is not accurate and Gnumeric is accurate.
The Vaio Mark has probably had a Neomagic video/sound chipset. Neomagic have lousy Linux support, and pretty need to use XFree86 3.3.6., as it is only available on old notebooks because they went out of business a while ago.
Gnumeric is a better choice than OpenOffice. It is a better Spreadsheet than Excel. Unfortunately, everyone wants a suite instead of a superior standalone application.
You are wrong. I'll only speak in regards to Nvidia, though I believe ATI is the same. There are two parts to the Nvidia driver. One is the actual binary driver and one si the kernel interface. Nvidia provides source for the interface and that is wht gets compiled. Nvidia also ditributes precompiled interfaces for serveral distro's kernels. If there is a GPL violation, then Nvidia has been violating copyright for a long time.
The interface you can treat as LGPL. The licence is different but that is a simple way of explaining it. So the question is basically can someone link a closed source binary to a LGPL binary then link the LGPL binary to a GPL binary? This is a rare case where I doubt the FSF would even attempt to pursue as it could very easily lead to a court decision against the GPL.
Franchises are very poor examples. It is eseentially a corporation where the mid-level managers have to buy thier positions and can be scapegoated very easily.
For a real exmaple, go check out an office park, or go to some banks' sckyscraper and check out all the offices. Most of the people working there are fairly satisfied with thier jobs.
For 10.1, GNOME is suspose to be the default. However it is about as much of a default as KDE is the default for Mandriva. I still use GNOME as the default DE in Mandriva though.
GNOME, created because KDE was not free, nor legal. I am not sure if even RMS's forgiveness actually is enough to make it legal, but the point is moot now.
Mono, a GNOME version of.NET. Regardless of your feelings about.NET, it is better that you can use on Linux than if Linux was shut out.
Evolution, it was started before Athera, and having an outlook clone that allows connectivity to MS Exchange is a good thing.
He probably doesn't do 42oz of Mountain Dew. But drinking plenty of liquids is good benefits two fold for DVT. You will have to get up more, and better hydration is more healthy.

Most integrated video on desktop boards have a PCI-E slot whther it is the Intel or Nvidia integrated.
Most new OEM computers often have integrated crap for video, so a budget card would let them be able to game.
Now, how likely are they to come across this review, well that is kinda doubtful.

Most distros will play MP3's. Most will also play noncss encrypted DVD's.

Then Nvidia, Mandriva, SUSE, and others, are in the wrong.

Yeah let's look at your exmaples:
.NET. Regardless of your feelings about .NET, it is better that you can use on Linux than if Linux was shut out.

What else might you be going on about?
OMG, Steve Jobs is constipated. We must all send him ex-lax via buying songs on iTunes.
Utah has tried to pass state laws requiring ISPs to filter porn. I think Penn. tried something similiar.
Youngins. That's all I'm saying. No, I'm not going to reveal how old I am, just that I'm old enough.
Whatever makes you think that /.'s high regard for accuracy would extend to this article?

It just is big, is most definately not the correct answer; unless you were looking for any easy way to break up.
Ohh, I don't think these tentacles will be trying to kill girls.
I surely didn't need the image of a large fat man in a skirt being "worked over" by tentacles either.
Err, #15288016 was just before your post, #15288020. Next time, try to have a little patience. :-)
Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn! Iä! Iä!
There I pronounced it for you.
Mandriva is that high. Plus if you are using TweakUI, then you are editing the registry.
