  1. MSN Messenger on Blocking MSN Messenger? · · Score: 1

Too bad I just now saw this. Anyone using Windows or MSN Messenger on XP has probably gotten those stupid spam messgaes. To disable them, just block anyone on your address list. If they want access, they can just email you requesting access. Works great!

  2. Is it just me on National Do Not Call List Opens for Registrations · · Score: 1

Or is this going to be the largest, easiest to access list of phone numbers and names?

It specifically states that you have to get the solicitors name and phone number to file a complaint. It's difficult to talk to a real supervisor at a telemarketing center, much less get someone who knows their name and the phone # they are using. So basically, if I put my name on the list I will get a net increase in calls, since currently noone has my cell # to try to sell me stuff on. And there will basically be nothing I can do about it, unless I get a name and phone #. I'll just wait and see how this pans out...

I knew it! IE is just a bunch of smoke and mirrors that makes you think you are surfing the web. In actuality it is just a viewer for a big snapshot of the web, downloaded with each 'patch' from MS.

Now if they can just prove that Word, Excel, and Access are nothing more than a specialized viewer for .txt files..

While I this is a great move by NVIDIA to increase the use of Pixel and Vertex Shader in games, is this wholly proprietary? I was wondering why NWN was shipped out, with hardly any beta testing. I figured they just wanted to do like everyone else and release a buggy product, make $$, screw the users; but I now see the light.
It was in fact released early so it could be out before Warcraft III. Silly me.

  16. Opportunity on Is it Wrong to Accept an Employment Counter-Offer? · · Score: 1

Personally, I would not take a counteroffer, or even look for one from my old company. If I had an offer from another company to do a similar job for more money, I would take it. I would look forward to the new opportunities and relationships possible at the new place. Yeah, I'd miss a few people around here, but such is life. The 1 or 2 people I go and hang out with will still be there to hang out with. The opportunity for something new would outweigh any reservations I would have.

However, ask yourself the question, 'This is more money, but why do I want to keep doing the same damn thing, even if it is more money?" Me, I'd rather move on to something in my field, but more interesting, wide open, and full of new challenges. I get so bored as it is, I need new challenges. Why stay in your current day to day doldrum?

  17. Re:The only problem.. on Web-Based Helpdesks? · · Score: 1

Having woked in phone, field, and web based support environments; I think they each can work very well, if properly implemented. Clients generally prefer actual human contact, so they are generally happier and more comfortable with Field, and Phone support. It is also much easier for a novice. However for general quick questions, or technically inclined clients, email support as a first route of contact can be very benificial to the support team and the client. -Fren
