    you can spend a pile of money for a well made think pad, or you can spend practically nothing for a chunk of worthless i3 3gig no keypad, no wifi, so poorly made you have to twist the case so the battery engages, large heavy SHIT that look like 1987 threw up on (but you have 2 mouses)

    but is that really different from any other era? Thats why fans always make sure to mention their model numbers, cause some outside sales drone looks at his bottom of the barrel stinkpad and wonders what the hell people are talking about.

    yea the ones around here are pretty darn large, but CVS has over 1/3 the store dedicated to pharmacy stuff, wallgreens has the back corner and 3 half isles, in every single one I have been to, from here in the south to the Canadian border

    CVS has their share of crap too, but it consumes almost all of wallgreens. If I want 6$ box of trash bags, a dancing santa and a hair-dini wallgreens, if I want medicine anyfreakingwhere else BUT wallgreens

    wallgreens has 2 isles dedicated to as seen on tv crap, cvs 1 endcap of 1 or 2 isles, we have a as seen on tv store, I dont need one when I am sick, therefore I dont go to wallgreens.

    I call it beer, but then I KNOW theres two worlds of beer

    One is a fine crafted beverage meant for enjoyment, maybe with a nice dinner and company of good friends during a peaceful evening.
    The other is mass produced piss that has to be consumed ice cold so you cant taste it, and drank in bulk for the sole reason of getting shit faced.

    I have room in my life for both.

    I dont know about that, I used to work with a bunch of blue collar South Koreans, I can drink pretty good, but these guys would match me with their beers topped off with vodka ... sometimes more than 25% vodka in a pint.

    cvs, right aid, whatever .. and yea they are well stocked, just with never anything I need, they are great if I need as seen on tv crap, paper towels, garbage toys, film processing or want to play "theres only 2 people working here, neither are at the cash register", but when I need some breath right strips and a bottle of HBP cold medicine I can never find it in the whole 3 half isles that dont look like a dollar tree exploded.

    that never has anything I want so I end up going to the CVS across the street. Never understood how places like kmart and walgreens stay in business, espectally wallgreens, which is a drug store, with less medical supplies in it than the grocery store.

    and in 7 years the entire market would have moved on, meanwhile consoles are still frozen in time, when I say embedded I mean things like android that will just about run on a toaster if you wanted it to, then tomorrow run it on a quad core with a brand new nvidia chipset

    let me repeat, CONSOLES ARE FROZEN IN TIME, no other computer product does that, you still may have a motorola razor, but its not the same motorola razor you had in 2005, your PS3 is.

    optimizing games for a 10 year old architecture is what we have now, and gee golly its out of date and wasteful of modern hardware. By not locking themselves in a long term 1 product only contract they have the ability to continually advance while software lags in terms of months not decades, like what we have today.

    yea but that optimization only lasts a few months before its totally outdated, usually before the console hits the stores. The embedded solutions on the other hand have a much higher rate of product rotation meaning you can get the latest n greatest out to customers without holding up fab on a 10 year old design for systems that usually only have high sales within the first couple of years.

    in my case linux doesnt even have the ability to detect a monitor correctly

    I formatted my drive, installed windows 7, even in setup with no drivers it ran at my native 1280x1024 resolution, linux on the other hand tossed it into some weird ass resolution at 50Hz causing the lcd to spaz like crazy, swore up and down that my VGA connector was plugged into the HDMI port, and when I installed the nvidia driver I didnt see X for the next two nights.

    As I stumbled around nano and links -g whipping up a fucking hack script using xrandr I sat there wondering why the hell I ever started using this software in the first place... but then I remembered that it used to have no problems detecting my monitor ... once KDE 4.9 loaded I just sat there for a moment thinking of how far backwards linux has moved in the last couple years.

    wrong dude, that electric motor is not assisting 100% of the time, neither is the gas motor

    its in stages

    so you get X hp from the electric, and Y from the gas

    if they were both on at the same time THEN you would get a combined HP, but they are not, its marketing bullshit, something I would think an ultra premium brand is above as it treats their customers as utterly stupid
