So it happened a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away? Sounds familiar for some reason...as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced.
I've been hearing various news about a new Indiana Jones movie since before the last Star Wars came out. The trouble was, and I imagine continues to be, that George, Steven, and Harrison don't have a simultaneuous opening in their schedules for quite a while.
As for the story, they don't know for sure yet. At least that's what Rick McCallum (producer of Episode I & II, Young Indy, etc) said in the last issue of Star Wars Insider (well, the last one I saw at any rate). Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis is already a PC game (and a very good one at that), so I doubt they would do an Atlantis-based story, especially with the recent Disneyfication of that.
I did see in an interview on the Lucasarts web site a long time ago that there was an alternate story that had been worked up for the game that eventually became Indiana Jones & The Infernal Machine, but the people in charge of that game at Lucasarts were told to back off of that story because it was along similar lines to one that was being considered for a possible Indy IV.
Somehow I doubt we'll see Indy IV until after all the Star Wars prequels have come out though--George is just too busy.
So, was anyone other than me pissed off when they heard that Lucasarts decided to scrap production of Obi-Wan for the PC? They said that they were planning a release for an upcoming next-generation game platform. Well, guess what platform that is... Yep, they're making it for the XBox now. And, they seem to be planning to make a few other games for it as well (and probably not for PC). In other words, they're one of the companies that'll help the XBox get the last laugh... And, if Obi-Wan turns out to be a cool enough game, I may just have to get an XBox myself...it's just like when they stopped making Commodore 64 games and forced me to get an IBM compatible PC back in 1989 or so--just so I could play the Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade graphic adventure. Stupid technology...:-)
Wow...I guess I haven't bought CD-Rs in a while, because last time I did they were running about $1 a disk. 35 to 40 cents at retail (which means they'll be cheaper than that elsewhere) sounds perfectly fine to me.:-)
Crikey! How long have I been asleep?!?! The last day I remember was April 8th, but now I wake up to see this year-in-review stuff...I must've slept clear through to December, 'cause the year wasn't even halfway over last I checked...
A couple years ago, a couple of my friends in the dorm came up with the same brilliant idea (I imagine one of them, LordSigh (or is he LordFile on here?) will comment on it as soon as he sees it too) and actually *DID* it...
Basically, what they did was get some powdered milk--you know, you have to add water to it to make it--and instead of using regular water, they used seltzer water. Apparently, the results were NASSSS TEEEEEEEEE, so be careful.
Also, there was some question about whether the carbon dioxide would react with the milk and result in lumps of calcium carbonate; not sure what became of that, and I always hated chemistry anyway...
Actually, I've been looking into this type of thing as a possibility for a Master's Project at my school, and I'm wondering if some of you guys might have some good ideas of how to improve it. What I've been looking into is maybe doing a more hardware-oriented version of it--y'know, shove some gyroscopic sensors and such into it so you don't need the webcam. After all, the general concensus seems to be that a webcam would be too slow to keep up with a *real* Jedi.:)

...if he plants a flag on it. In fact, I suggest all lawyers try to claim the sun in this manner. It'll be easy--just go at night. ;)
And when the photon STOPS, the clock must be moving INSANELY FAST
I sit here around 8 hours a day not moving at all...trust me, the clock does NOT move insanely fast.
I like how image 4 has incorporated one of the standard Slashdot typos: "it's" instead of "its."

Clever?! This is nothing new. Cartoon characters have been climbing walls with suction cups for over 50 years!

You're absolutely right. Check it out here.

Anybody have any cool ideas?
