"as history shows, evolution always wins"
- from a being that was essentially cloned over and over again for centuries...effectively stating she was going to lose.
Other lines were just as bad, it was a horribly written script that adhered very little to the comic story.
1. Subject all policies to empiracle review, if the policy isn't improving the general welfare of the people or is causing unintended problems, force it through a mandatory review in which changes are made or a new policy is proposed. Various optimal constraints will be used, chief among them is the gini coeffecient. The following planks are subject to this one.
2. Decentralize power. One way of doing this is forming citizen councils, 100 people to a council, which elects one person to another 100 citizen council, and so on until you have 1 to 100 councils at the top. Every representative must vote the way the council that elected them voted, given appropriate time for debate. The only horizontal communication allowed is between leaf councils, except in a vote of concious by a representstive council, in which case they can communicate horizontally to force the issue to all the councils below that level.all communication must be recorded and freely available.
3. Disband the military. For defense purposes , all citizens will be given 2 years of military training in the fields that best use their abilities, and best match the needs of the nation. After that two years, they can chose to go to a four year university, private or public sector employment, or form a business using the money that would have gone to their education. If loans to start a business are required, the business must be in the form of a worker owned coop a la democracy at work.
If you can get the tax structure back to 1960 levels, eliminate carried interest, define capital gains as income, and enforce these things with no less than 6 strikes then you get demoted to poor, then I will gladly pay per GB
A long time ago I read somewhere that people who sleep in two four hour increments have better over all health indicators....
Not sure where I read it, or how long ago, but I specifically remember them mentioning the Mediterranean area for this specific sleep pattern...
CO2 is a green house gas.... CO2 has increased due to human activity.... human activity increases temperature.
Just like a lollipop... All it takes is 3!
It is very simple, label it GMO with an id... if you are a concerned customer you can look up the number to see why the plant was modified...
1. increase anti-oxidants
2. better drought resistance
3. pesticide resistance
and so on...
The usual American customer isnt going to notice anything. The concerned hippies, as some would love to refer to them, will be able to tell if something is better for them due to GM or is being used to further another product by the same company.
That is why many like the idea of algae... you can take a high salt/acidic water source and turn it into a productive source of fuel... What else are we using it for?
The last time I looked into algae an area the size of Virginia would produce enough fuel for the entirety of the US annual use of oil, the problem is keeping the algae growing because they will deplete the nutrients fast, and we will have to somehow collect the CO2 we use and pump it into the production area.
If it is safe for water and air, why would the industry fight so hard to retain waivers for specific parts of the Clean Water Act and Clean Air Act... Why unburden themselves with regulations that apparently would have no effect on their operation...
GMO or not, I want to know what I am buying. It should not matter if you are pro GMO or anti GMO, everyone does better with more information. I do not care if labelling it will cost business sales, guess what, if your product has a negative connotation because a bunch of hippies had better propaganda, you and your advert team should be fired and left to rot for doing such a bad job. Of course, I am not opposed to letting anyone that works in advertisement to be left outside to rot anyway.
I digress, the point being GMO can be used for good or bad. You can setup a system where you drain the pockets of farmers and set them on a monthly schedule of what amounts to wage slavery... or you can increase the amount of antioxidants in tomatoes, and the drought resistance of staples. I want to insure that w/e it is, is safe by doing at least three generation studies on a mouse model... After that the product should be labelled as GMO and the intent code, Drought resistant - 0, antioxidants - 1,.... and so on.
FYI a recent post by Rossi on jonp says by February 2013 a 1 MW plant will be operating under private enterprise and anyone will be able to view it...
Time will tell... If it gets pushed back at all i am just going to ignore the ecat entirely and wait till the scientists in lenr do the needed work.
This article pretty much explains the extent of NASA's support (mostly a single employee for those not wanting to rtfa)...http://www.forbes.com/sites/markgibbs/2012/01/16/cold-fusion-nasa-says-nothing-useful/
The NASA scientist does say from his results that LENR deserves further investigation, what he unequivocally denies is people like Rossi that say they get x,y, and z results but are shady when it comes with sharing the data or allowing third party unbias observers. Quite frankly, I agree with him. LENR should be put through the rigor of the scientific method and a consensus should be built, this process is slow, and tedious but absolutely necessary for this field to progress. Unfortunantly, public grants/funds will be unavailable to any researcher looking to duplicate or begin work in this area.
From what I understand Rossi is working on third party validation through two independent parties (one being a university)... the report is due sometime in late November. Perhaps, the proof is just around the corner...
Well, it's good to see Dr. Miles get a patent. I clearly need to learn how to search the patent office databases.
I dont doubt some people would send you emails like that... There are quite a few militant LENR believers out there, but I would never be one among them to use a patent as proof. It would just make it easier to gain private investment. With NASA and SPAWAR working on LENR, the developement of the Widom-Larson theory, and the repeatable co-deposition experiment, I am advocating for public investment. Of course not being an expert in the relating fields makes my opinion worth squat, it cant hurt to try.
The NASA patent is marked for examination (20110255645), but I have never seen any patent other than George Miley's (8227020) get through the patent application process... Rossi will need to provide more info for the EU to issue him a patent, and here are his patent filings (http://ip.com/patfam/en/40296889)... most LENR patents are in the queue...
What other LENR patents have been issued, other than Dr. Miley's?
The problem with getting private funds is due to the patent office denying anything that smells like the p and f claims.
What investor is going to go into a business where the product is not protected and relatively easy to duplicate... Not many.
This has bred secrecy in the field for those close to production, they cannot release either their research or the product itself without a patent cause they have responsibility to their investors.
What we do get from them is internal test data, observations from scientists, and eventually third party verification.

SPaWAR - co-deposition of palladium... http://www.spawar.navy.mil/sti/publications/pubs/tr/1696/tr1696.pdf
Dr. Iraj Parchamazad, Chairman of the Chemistry Department at the University of LaVerne, in LaVerne, California - http://coldfusionnow.org/iraj-parchamazad-lenr-with-zeolites/
Let's continue work on ITER, but not ignore the progress in the lenr/lanr field by opening up federal funding and the us patent office to researchers in this field... The very least this will attract private investors under the protection of patents in which case the scientific establishment can keep denying lenr public funding.
It be great if lenr could get federal funds to do the research needed... In a sense some federal funds do go to it but only because the scientists at spawar have done it on the side.
We now have a method to easily replicate the original p and f experiment using co-deposition of palladium ( no longer have to wait for the palladium to absorb enough deutrium to trigger the reaction ). The Italians, specifically celani, have progressed work done with nickel and hydrogen. The most interesting experiment that I know of is palladium loaded zeolite with hydrogen gas, you can find the video in coldfusionnow.org... The nanor MIT device is also of interest.
I realize ITER is based in established science, but there is now a theory which requires no new physics and explains the effects seen from the many repeatable experiments, widom-Larson theory.
We also know that lenr experiments can be done for a fraction of a fraction of the ITER cost, why should we limit our energy research horizon especially with such promise and the increasing number of repeated experiments by MIT, spawar, and even NASA.
I believe that fermented foods are healthy. Fermenting should be done on all whole grains to avoid anti-nutrients. I ferment brown rice for four days in a acidic salty environment, in hopes of encouraging Lactobacillus bacteria to grow.
As for milk, if it comes from grass-fed non-hormones-antibiotic cows, then it is probably healthy regardless of the studies that say it causes cancer.
Lastly, cooked food is important to extract calories from food... I used to be on the "raw" diet, then just decided to eat anything that I considered healthy until evidence showed it not to be. The reasoning from going from raw to cooked was that limiting your diet by applying some arbitrary set of rules will necessarily leave out foods that are healthy. As for meat it is fish and mutton from here on out.
By story you must be referring to an infestation of worms that massage your nerve cells and muscle cells making you smarter, stronger, better... you will have to wait a thousand years to get rid of them, or somehow find a way to stimulate the pelvic splanchnic ganglion.

I assume that every living human has the self-interest in living as long as they possibly can given their environmental constraints.
I do no think this is too much to ask of the uneducated. Your body is a machine, you (being a rational being) can control the inputs (food, water, air, sunlight) under the societal constraint of your quantity of money, maximizing your health over time...
Now, if you do not make these choices in an optimum manner, then you are being irrational, and will die earlier then you would have.... the problem is that the mass of people (educated or uneducated) that think irrationally is growing rather than shrinking as time
increases.... this is positive feedback to the industries... The solution is that the uneducated and the educated both need to have the desire to self-educate, rather than taking things at face value.

The middle benefits by the aggregate demand those social programs increase... I completly agree with you on the tax policy and wars.
