  1. Hrm on Interview With Linus · · Score: 2, Redundant

Well. Its kinda good that linus really doesn't have too much to say about this whole deal. I hope he really just ignores Windows and does what linux does best: be linux.

Just as a secondary comment: why don't people give up this whole M$ bashing thing? I really thing that people need to just let it go. Bashing M$ just makes our community look childish.

  2. Finally.. Someone like me glorified! on The Ordinary Slashdot User Answers · · Score: 5

Finally, Slashdot did something close to a human interest story!

I am a 15 year old in South Jersey who lives a life near to Clinton's. Waking up on my Christmas Vacation to read something about (what i would consider to be) a down to earth guy answering questions like he WAS some superstar just fills me with vitality, showing that my generation of hackers, coders, geeks, loosers, punks, and freaks are cared about and important out of their small social circles.

To all my akin freaks and geeks in the world, I would like to extend my thoughts and motivation to you.

However much of a looser you think you are, you are important. You may think you are the greatest thing in the world. Your not. But, you are better than your average teenager, with the ability to grasp your future in the present. Go out, get a job. Go over to your local ISP or webhosting company, work for free or cheap. Get buisness experience. Use the talents that you have been developing most of your lives. Be competitive, and do honest work.

However you may feel about yourself, there IS someone out there for you. Personally, I have been involved with Anneliese for nearly a year now, and she is the best thing that has ever happened to me (read my bio). Don't be discouraged. Ask that girl (or guy) out that you like. Don't let it go!.

    To the Slashdot team:
Thank you for doing this. You have done a great service to the community giving this guy a chance to become a pseudo-celeb., getting maybe his 15 minutes of fame (Maybe, its just his first 15 seconds)
I hope you do this again.

I hope my rant has not been in vein, and that someone reads and understands what I am trying to say.

  3. Re:this is turning into WTO all over again. on 2600 Staffer Arrested During Republican Convention · · Score: 1

There are many many things to consider in this. Yes, we do need the right to peacefully gather and demonstrate. But, when it gets out of hand, sometimes its hard to tell the difference between the peaceful, leaal protests, and the illegal, violent protests.

The answer to it all is simple and complecated. There is no answer.

We have come a long long way to where we have socially and economically. But we have alot farther to come. Our complete way of life is ment to be unoffensive to everyone. But its bound to be offensive to someone.

When i see people wearing WWJD t-shirts and bracelets i find it to be very offensive. Howerver, if i wear a tshirt that says "What Would Mohammad Do?" or "Blessed be! The Goddess lives in us all" , even to the extreme "I worship the prince of darkness" i will get harassed, or possibly diciplined. Most of my life, i have had evangalistic relatives pounding me with "Jesus loves you" bullshit. If Jesus loves me, thats great. If he loves you, thats great. I dont care. Just dont interfere with MY life.

How can we change something so right. How can we improve a system that is fair, but completely unjust? How can we take this paradox and create something clean cut and able to be easily understood. We cant.. ever..

Im sorry people. I TOTALLY agree with what Katz said in his first essay. But some of the things in this are just not the right way to do things.

  7. This really takes guts on South Park The Movie · · Score: 2

To make such a movie really takes guts. Southpark takes all real things that are so taboo and brings them out into the spotlight. Just as sex, and swearing, are right there with going to church. I appriciate someone acutally doing this as a slap to the Americian culture. I honestly think the most of the people who have power are increadibly over-conservative. Sex is a fact of life. Swearing is pretty damn stupid. Come on. Someone made up this word, somewhere in the past, and it came to some negative connotation. Who the hell cares? Listen to what we call profanity. Say shit 20 times in your head, considering the sound of the word and the meaning. That becomes pretty silly.

I hope soon America, and the world's culture at large, reaches a point of acceptance of whats there is there. Dont try to hide people from it. Ween them into knowing these kind of things. If we say NO DRINIKING, NO SEX, NO SWEARING UNTILL YOU ARE 18, most people (especially the kind that were trying to protect against this sort of thing) are going to DRINK till they pass out, have SEX with everyone around, and EVERYTHING will be FUCK this FUCK that.

Ok.. I'm done ranting (and i forget what i started this all about, oh yeah Southpark)
