I'm already paying $50 a month to get online, there's no way I'm paying more $ to read content I can get for free elsewhere. If something is good and I enjoy the site, then I'll send the sites that need it (the small hobby sites mostly) a donation.
I'd say that if you have hung out with a chess team, Linux User Groups, D&D players, and by god, Magic The Gathering players, you have no right to be calling someone else poorly socialized.

they DONT want to pay for information. remember how many people said they wouldn't pay a dime for napster, and would just go get their mp3s elsewhere? it's not just open source enthusiasts, I think it applies to people in general.. why pay for something which you can get for free and next to no risk of consequences?
Anyone who made this available to the public had to know they were taking a risk. Whether it is right or not, they should've known they stood the chance to be dragged to court for this. If he's not prepared to fight that battle, he shouldn't have gotten involved in the first place.
Yes, there was fiber cut during the Baltimore train wreck. I'm not sure who's fiber it was exactly, but I remember having meetings here with the tech team about what was going on, and that came up.
Another audience member: There's little debate in this room that many software patents are (poor). Will you enforce all your patents, even (unfair or bad) ones?
Craig: Absolutely.... We grant patents as one form of intellectual property protection. Should we have patents? That question was answered a long time ago.... if the examiners give out a patent, it bears weight. (Issues a challenge to go ahead and fight a patent.)
Same audience member: Even if we have no money?
Craig: Get your money. (big audience negative reaction)
Well, that certainly helps too.:) Also the fact I use mutt for my mail makes me fairly safe from just about anything.
But seriously.. the english/engrish is so bad in some of these that it's a dead giveaway.. it's scary to think what a malicious person with good social engineering skills could do..
Where are the truly destructive worms/viruses/trojans/etc.? I'm really surprised no one has written anything that would forward itself along, then wipe out the HD (no random chance BS), or something like that..
And these guys seriously need to hook up with someone who knows English.. the grammar errors in the e-mail are usually enough to tip me off it's a virus to begin with, that's what I guessed about SirCam before I really knew what it was..
what? an editorial error on slashdot? surely, you just.
hey.. with fantasy football season just around the corner, this has got me thinking.. how about fantasy slashdot?

you think Osama will take the under in the Steelers/Chiefs game?
So?
The fix being out there doesn't make anyone go and patch their machine. Your statement is largely (but not totally) irrelevant.

Because everyone hates texans. Go rope something, or get a new gun rack for your truck.
I'd convict you just because you're a damn texan.
And screw you, I'm not capitalizing the 't' in texan, you guys have big enough heads already. Punks.

I hate to see what the spelling nazi would do to you.
He's gonna have a lot of e-mail to catch up on. Wasn't he in jail for the whole SirCam bit?
