i think programmers have a problem with egos. it may be insane to try and get a fix out as soon as possible. but if its physically possible, you can guarantee a novice programmer out to prove his worth is going to do it to "show up the rest of the team". and because managers love it, this gets rewarded. and because managers tend to be technically inept, they don't understand why the rest of the team demand a properly logged bug when "young x here just jumped straight in last time and fixed it". I've been that person before. it works well if your playing the political game. its not really very helpful if your trying to produce a good product though.

Elitist much? who are you to say that just because someone doesn't excel in education or business that they are without value? and calling kids worthless. the same people you have decided are worthless have the full human range of emotions that you do, they want, crave and desire, they want to be accepted by their peers. the contribute to others lives in entertainment and joy as much as you would contribute to society and business. you aren't all that different regardless of how special you think you are, you just have different focus.

Now suppose you are a teacher and you walk into an auditorium with 2000 black students and only a half dozen white kids. You already know the odds are that you are speaking to quite a few criminals waiting to bloom. Would you be thrilled? Or would you rather be somewhere else for your own safety?

the black people that go to jail aren't the ones filling an auditorium. More murder suicide school shootings (all iirc) were done by white students.

Considering bulling is alive and well in all aspects of human life (consider how common the worker who gets yelled at by their boss or customers / clients using aggression to achieve an end). it may be your learned behaviour to always approach the "co-operation" solution to a problem, is this because of society advancing or because of the threat of force if you attempt to utilize your own threat of force to get your own way. my point. those that have no retaliatory fear of threat of force turn someone like Mubarak & Saddam Husein and things like looting and mob mentality occurs. what makes you think that the people engaging in this activity are any different to your next door neighbor?
