    Companies like A-Bit and ASUS should have a board ready by Jan, Feb of 01

    and the Mustang supposaly can scale to 8 (i think) processers. But I would be very supriesed if AMD or VIA made a chipset for the it.

    AMD probaly will make a run for the servers with the Sledgehammer OTOH with quad boards

    Correct me if im wrong, but this was with the AMD 760-MP chipset.
    Does anyone know what VIA's planes for SMP are? I know that the KT266 should be out soon.

    the high end PIII's are from Intel. Intel still cant produce crap when it comes to processers above 800mhz but my local computer shop has the 1.1 ghz t-bird in.

    But yes, i dont expect to see these boards till jan, feb timeframe. Companies like A-Bit and ASUS still need to design the motherboards.

    Umm the A-10 was being phazed out when the Gulf War started. Many were brough back into use during that war.

    it only goes up to 700 OFFICIALY. You still should be able to run 133 * 7.5 for your ghz PIII.

    Check out websites like sharkyextreme.com, tomshardware.com etc. They usually have unbiased info (execpt toms, he hates intel)

    If you are running a PII 233 that should be on the intel LX chipset that has a FSB at 66mhz. Even if you were lucky enough to have a BX chipset, i bet its limited to a 100 mhz FSB and not overclockable to 133.

    If you have a LX you can run a PII 333 or any Celery up to 600(its the max i think). Even if you had a BX, you can only go up to 700 mhz (ONLY i love it)

    If you are going to go after the 1ghz PIII, you are going to have to buy a new motherboard anyways. You might as well buy a High quality abit or asus KT133. But why not wait 3 months and get the AMD 760 DDR chipset. But hey, the SMP + DDR chipsets are coming out in January. Get one of those!!!

    dual 1.5ghz corvette (palmetto) w/ 133 ddr goodness. Drool!

    I bet that this was for computer manufactures to get the product by Oct 30 so they can integrate it into there product line. Not to mention the cuts in cost for the Christmas 2k++.

    In my experence I only was a 20% increase in performance (this was in windows however, no flames please i didnt have a choice). It made 2 400 mhz processers seam like a single 500 mhz processer. And if you look at the cost, 2 400 mhz cpus are cheaper than a 500mhz cpu.

    I wonder what the performace increase in linux is vs windows. Could be interestering.

    I would love to see how well big iron will perform running Linux. Linux's strongest point is stability and IO. Big Iron's strongest point is, well, Stability and IO.

    One concern that I have is that the GPL could deter changes from comming. Corperations don't like the idea of giving something for free (altho it looks like IBM, Compaq and SGI are pushing for support). Also it seams that because of the Open Source nature of Linux, the Military (at least where i'm stationed) will not touch it. which is a shame because i could have used it in my last project :(

    P.S. I am having a problem with X. It crashes when i look at it wrong. I happened when I changed my Video card from my GeForce to my VooDoo3. (and it works fine with my GeForce) E-Mail if you can help please.

    What are the reasons to use Crusoe over Intel and AMD? Its not power useage

    Intels chips use 1-4 watts in full energy save mode. The Crusoe Gets between 0.789 and 2 watts in its energy save mode. Amazing. http://www.intel.com/pressroom/archive/releases/mp 061900.htm

    AMD's chips use as little a 3 watts in energy save mode also.

    And has anyone seen any REAL benchmarks? You know Sandra any thing to compare it besides Window Desktop Idle, MP3 Playback and DVD playback. For all we know it could run just as fast as a winchip or a Cryix (but be a whole lot cooler)?

    In Transmeta OWN report, when they compare Office 2K scores, it took the P3 chip 0.133 hrs (8 min) to compleate the benchmark and the Crusoe 0.164 hrs (10 min). Thats a prety sizeable difference.

    while yes that is the kernel source, You can DL the GLX source from ftp://ftp1.detonator.nvidia.com/pub/drivers/englis h/XFree86_40/NVIDIA_GLX 0.9-5.tar.gz

    Nvidia has had the source open sence they releaced 0.92. The default may be to install a RPM but the Tars have been there the whole time

    The ftp site is down as of 0-Dark 30 or else i would tell you the number of switch statements in that also.

    I just dl their newest source and i counted 3 switch statements in the entire source.
    And they have direct support for the KX133 and KT133 finaly. Cant wait untill i COMPILE this and install it from the SOURCE direct from

    Continue to do what you need to do to get this emulator out. If you are not from the US then there is no need to listen to any US companys.

    As of right now, i think that you would be able to defend a court case in the US. You can reverse enginere(SP) a server if you wish.

    i think that we need to start a class action law suite against Stupid companys like this one, the RIAA and the MPAA. I think it is pretty ovious that the RIAA and the MPAA are ogloplies(sp) and that Verrant is acting like little children.

    Yes Hitachi and Toshiba have settled with Rambus. But the reason that they did is for compleatly different reasons all togeather.

    Toshiba is the suplier for the RDRAM and the PS2 uses, and when you have an order that large, you will do anything to keep it. (Including selling your soul to the devil, or RAMBUS in this case)

    Hitachi settled after they has sold there ram facilitys to NEC. Hitachi doesnt make ram any more.

    All in all I think that it is about time for RAMBUS to get there ass whooped.

    P.S. I May have gotten Hitachi and Toshiba mixed up, cant remember quite clearly.

    Info only want to be free if the person who "owns" it wants it to be. (owns is a bad word i know but i "own" the info to my bank accounts and nVidia "owns" the info to their drivers.
