    All of these can be circumvented without unlocking. Installing CyanogenMod etc doesn't actually unlock your phone, the modem is still locked to one carrier.

    The point is that frame rendering is not even across all frames, larger scenes will bottom out your fps and go below the refresh rate. And when that happens and you have vsync on, you go down to half fps, which is really bad.

    I sure would like to see core-per-file parallel compilation, too, but instead, all of the dev environments I use keep the source and object on HD and do them one at a time, serially. Big projects take much longer than the hardware at hand could manage. XCode, QT, gcc/gmake... all serial sluggards.

    -1 for hero, not a bad phone (for it's time), but the update they pushed at the end (right before the warranty expired) caused it to not ring for some calls..
    Yup, they patched my PHONE to not be able to accept PHONE CALLS right before the warranty ran out.

    And Telus said ,oh sorry ,your warranty has expired, we can't help you.

    Luckliy my contract was up so i jumped ship on HTC and Telus right away.

    (now i'm bitching and moaning about my Galaxy S Captivate from rogers, but at least this one lasted the whole 2 years of the contract, and runs Cyanogen half decently)

    you could /possibly/ convert the xp machine to a virtual machine and run it inside w7/linux/whathaveyou... assuming you could 'fix' the licencing server that would freak out when you changed the hardware (or convince ms support of the need to transfer)
